Stoup Brewing Launching Crowlers

When you’re at a local craft brewery or craft beer bar and you find a beer on tap that you really enjoy, the first thing you usually want to know is whether or not they package that beer to go. As I’m sure most of you are aware, there are quite a few craft beers out there that don’t get bottled or canned – especially beers that are one-offs. That means, if you want to take some of that great new craft beer you just discovered home with you, your best bet is to see if the brewery or bar can fill you a growler to go.

Growlers are a great option and, varying opinions notwithstanding, I think they do their job quite well. However, using one means you’d have to already own one and remember to have brought it with you, or else you’ll need to spend a little at the brewery or bar (assuming the bar has some to sell) to purchase one before having it filled.

Craft Beer Monger’s Picks For Seattle Beer Week 11

Even though I knew it was coming, Seattle Beer Week (SBW) kind of snuck up on me this year. I can’t believe it kicks off in just 2 days! There are a few events that happen each year that I usually attend so I’m set there. However, I didn’t find much time until this past weekend to look over the rest of this year’s SBW events and choose which ones I’d either like to attend myself and/or that I’d like to suggest to you. I’m here to fix that.

Gilbert’s Cheese Experience Comes to Stoup Brewing For Seattle Beer Week

What pairs best with craft beer? That’s a big question and the answer can vary widely depending on what kinds of foods and what styles of craft beers you’re talking about. Do you have any favorite food(s) you enjoy pairing with your favorite beers? You can pair pretty much any type of food with craft beer as long as you stick to the basics of pairing. Do you want the beers you’re paring your foods with to compliment those foods with a similar flavor profile, contrast those foods to help balance things out, or do you want to use the food as a palate cleanser between dishes/courses?

One of the most popular foods to pair with craft beer is cheese. There is such a diversity in the taste, texture and aroma of cheeses that you can really get into exploring different paring options and have a lot of fun with it. The Ballard Brewed Winter Beer Festival Is Coming Up

I know it’s only Fall.  Winter doesn’t officially arrive until late December, but craft beer has always been a bit ahead of the curve (Pumpkin beers showing up in early August, anyone?)  Being a big fan of Winter beers though, I certainly don’t mind when they start arriving a bit early.

Apparently, nether do many of the breweries in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.  Because, coming up this coming Saturday, November 3rd is the Ballard Brewed Winter Beer Festival to Benefit Bellwether Housing.  Drink Winter beers from eleven different Ballard breweries and do your part to help Bellwether Housing – creating affordable housing in Seattle.

Stoup Brewing’s 2018 Fresh Hop Lineup

I love a parade – especially when it’s a parade of Fresh Hop Ales.  I say keep ’em coming and I know I’m not the only one!  Local breweries are definitely hearing that call and answering back in a big way.  So far this season, I’ve enjoyed Fresh Hop Ales from at least 8 Northwest breweries (mostly Seattle, but a few from Oregon), and I’m looking forward to having even more in the coming weeks.

Now Stoup Brewing Company in Ballard has announced their Fresh Hop lineup for the 2018 season, and it doesn’t disappoint.  Stoup if keeping it fresh with at least 5 different Fresh Hop Ales coming our way over the next few weeks.

Craft Beer Monger’s Picks For Seattle Beer Week 10

Ten years ago.  That’s when it all began.  That’s when Seattle area craft beer lovers got to experience the first ever Seattle Beer Week and the first ever official Seattle Beer Week beer (a double IPA from Pike Brewing Company).  Back then, many of our favorite local craft breweries and craft beer bars didn’t even exist yet.  Whereas today, it seems, we have a craft brewery or craft beer bar around almost every corner.

More craft breweries and more craft beer bars means even more Seattle Beer Week events.  Are you ready?  Surviving the week (actually 11 days) will take careful planning. The Third Annual Ballard Beer Awards Return Next Week

Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood has a high concentration of craft breweries , many within just a few block of each other.  That makes it ideal for checking out several craft breweries in a short time.  Have you explored all of the breweries in Ballard?  Do you have any favorites?  Would you like to help them win an award?

For the third year, four Ballard breweries are coming together for a friendly little competition known as the Ballard Beer Awards, and you get to help determine the winners.  In order to cast your votes, you’ll have to visit Ray’s Cafe rather than the breweries themselves.  The competition kicks off on April 16th and runs through May 11th.  The four breweries involved in this year’s competition are: Stoup Brewing, Reuben’s Brews, Lucky Envelope Brewing and Maritime Pacific Brewing.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day In Ballard With The Parade O’ Pints

Looking for a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Seattle this year?  It’s just one week from Saturday (3/17) and five Ballard breweries are teaming up to bring you the first annual St. Pat’s Parade O’ Pints.

This neighborhood St. Patrick’s Day celebration is being hosted by Lucky Envelope Brewing, Obec Brewing, Populuxe Brewing, Reuben’s Brews and Stoup Brewing, and will include specialty beers, commemorative glassware, t-shirts, food trucks, live entertainment, and more.

Stoup Brewing Prepares For Their 4th Anniversary

There are a number of breweries in Seattle that have been around and been popular for several years.  As a result, it’s sometimes easy to forget that some the most popular breweries in Seattle today are actually quite young.  One such youngster among us is Stoup Brewing Company in Ballard.

Not quite 4 years old now, Stoup has amassed a loyal following thanks to beers like their extremely popular Citra IPA and their award winning Robust Porter and Russian Imperial Stout.  Not content with just a single celebration this year, Stoup has decided to stretch out their 4th Anniversary celebration in to a week full of events.

Four Breweries Team Up To Host Ballard Oktoberfest

Is it really getting to be that time already?  Summer, especially in Seattle, always seems so darn short.  A couple of weeks ago I was already seeing pumpkin beers appearing on craft beer store shelves and now, here come the Oktoberfest announcements.  Don’t get me wrong.  I love Fall and the Seasonal craft styles that come along with it, but it’s a bittersweet reminder that the days are getting shorter, the nights are getting longer and Summer is starting to fade.

Of course, as I just mentioned, Fall’s arrival also means Oktoberfest biers and Oktoberfest celebrations.  The Märzen/Oktoberfest style is probably my favorite style of Lager.  Sure, a well made Pilsner is great on a hot Summer day, but I love the more toasty malt flavors of a good Märzen.  If you’re also a fan of a good Märzen and other German/European styles (Hefeweizen, Dunkelweizen, Kölsch, Vienna Lager, Roggenbier, etc.) then you’ll want to mark your calendar for September 16th and this year’s Ballard Oktoberfest.
