This year’s Great Pumpkin Beer Festival is scheduled for Friday, October 4th through Sunday, October 6th and will be held at Elysian Brewing‘s production brewery facility in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood. This will be the 9th Annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival (GPBF), and it just seems to get bigger and more popular each year. If you’ve never been to the festival and/or have never tried a pumpkin beer, I urge you check it out. You’ll be amazed at the diversity and complexity you’ll find in pumpkin beers.
Summer is nearly here. That means trips to the beach, driving with the top down, barbecues and more. So, is it too early to start thinking about Fall and The Great Pumpkin Beer Festival? Elysian Brewing Company certainly doesn’t think so. They’ve just announced the 9th Annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival, which will be taking place this October 4th, 5th and 6th at their Georgetown prouduction brewery facility down on Airport way (5510 Airport Way S, Seattle, WA 98108).
This past Friday and Saturday, October 19th and 20th was the 8th Annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival at Elysian Brewing‘s commercial brewing facility in Georgetown. The festival was held in three sessions: one on Friday and two on Saturday. I attended the 1st Saturday session with my wife, Lynn. The gates opened just before 11:00AM for this sold out event and, by about 1:00PM, things were getting pretty crowded.
The festival was arranged with eight pouring stations (2 inside and 6 outside) each pouring a different selection of pumpkin beers to try. I grabbed my taster glass and tickets, including a few extra tickets for $2 each, and headed off to start sampling. There were several pumpkin beers from Elysian brewing, along with selections from across the state, across the country and even one all the way from Norway. I knew I wouldn’t be able to try every offering, so I relied on word of mouth from a few friends, including fellow beer blogger Brew Dad, and my own curiosity to lead me towards my first few selections before the lines for each tap station began growing too long.
It may still be August but don’t forget that October and this year’s Great Pumpkin Beer Festival are only 2 months away. This is the second year the festival will be held at Elysian Brewing‘s new commercial brewing facility in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood.
This year’s fest will feature over 60 different pumpkin beers; 13 of which are from Elysian Brewing Company, including: Mr. Yuck Sour Pumpkin Ale, Night Owl, Great Pumpkin, Dark o’ the Moon Pumpkin Stout, Hansel and Gretel Ginger Pumpkin Pils, Coche de Medianoche (new!), Kürbitinus, PK-47 Pumpkin Malt Liquor, Headless Horsey (new!), Ursa Orange (new!) Mens Room Original Pumpkin Ale (new!) and Orange Manalishi (new!). Wow!
Things have changed a bit this year regarding tickets for the festival. All tickets this year will be pre-sold. They went on sale last Firday, 8/17, and you can pick up yours at all Elysian Pubs (Capitol Hill, Tangletown & Elysian Fields). You’ll need one ticket for each session:
