The 3rd Annual Summer End Pig Roast Is Coming Up At Stogies n Hops

StogiesNHopsLogoBIG

Summer is fading away in Seattle.  Our temperatures are down, the rain is back and the leaves are already starting to turn.  Heck, I’ve even already started drinking Oktoberfest beers (the official dates for Oktoberfest this year are September 17 thru October 3).  Fall is still officially a couple of weeks away though, so there’s still time for a few more Summertime celebrations before we welcome back the grey skies and rain for months.

Stogies n Hops (CBM Sponsor) is all set to celebrate the end of Summer with their 3rd Annual Summer End Pig Roast, which is also a celebration of the 20th Anniversaries of both Firestone Walker Brewing Company and Stone Brewing Company.

Harley’s & Hops Is Coming This Friday

HarleysAndHopsTitle

Hops and Props has come and gone already.  Now it’s time for hops and choppers.  Coming up this Friday, March 25th is the 2nd Annual Harley’s & Hops at Emerald City Harley Davidson in Lynnwood.

Harley’s & Hops is a cycle-themed craft beer event with proceeds benefiting The Washington State Council of Fire Fighters Burn Foundation.  There will be live bands, barbecue and craft beers from more than 15 local craft breweries.  Don’t worry though, no motorcycle is required.  Emerald City HD is just a cool place to hold the event.

Craft Beer Monger’s Picks For The Best Local Craft Beer Bars

20160218_175759

Each week on Twitter I take part in what’s known as Follow Friday.  If you follow me (or anyone else) on Twitter then I’m sure you’re familiar with the concept.  In my Follow Friday (#FF) tweets, I always give a shout out to a few of my favorite local craft beer bars including: The Beer Junction, Beveridge Place Pub, The Pine Box, Toronado, Brouwer’s Cafe (and Burgundian), The Noble Fir, Stogies N Hops (CBM Sponsor) and The Red Hot and Parkway Tavern down in Tacoma.

I don’t always get to each of these places as often as I’d like, which is unfortunate.  The two I tend to make it to the most often are The Beer Junction and Beveridge Place Pub, both in West Seattle.  With only a minor detour, both places are basically on my way home from work.  Don’t get me wrong though.  Convenience is not, by any means, the only reason I frequent these two places.  In fact, Beveridge Place is regularly named one of Seattle’s best pubs on many ‘Best Of’ lists and The Beer Junction was just awarded Best Bottle Shop In Washington for the 4th year in a row from Rate Beer.

Stogies n Hops’ Annual Pig Roast With Firestone Walker Happens Tomorrow

SHFW2015PigRoast

I’m a big fan of Firestone Walker Brewing Company‘s beers.  The quality and consistency of every beer I’ve had from them is simply top notch.  Some of my favorite beers of all are Firestone Walker beers such as Double Jack (Double IPA), DBA, Parabola, Stickee Monkee, §ucaba and more including their ever changing but always delicious annual Anniversary offering.

I’m also a big fan of a good pig roast.  Well cooked pork is sinfully delicious and, of course, pairs well with many different styles of beer.  If you’re a fan of these wonderful gastronomic delights as well, then you’re in luck.  Tomorrow (Saturday, September 12th), Stogies n Hops (CBM Sponsor) is hosting their annual Pig Roast with Firestone Walker.

The Washington Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow Returns For A Second Year

HopMobRoadshowLogo1

We may be well into Winter in the great Northwest (Dang it’s cold out there!), and that currently has me deeply engrossed in lots of dark, rich, roasty, chocolaty, delicious Porters and Stouts – especially the bourbon barrel aged variety, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still enjoy the occasional hoppy and satisfying IPA.  A hophead like me can never go too long without one.  In fact, I think I’ll make my next one a Double IPA just for good measure.  I like ’em strong and quite hoppy.  I’d have a Triple IPA, but they’re a bit more difficult to track down this time of year.  That will change, however, in just a few short months.

Last February I told you about a unique new series of events dubbed the Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow.  It was a celebration of the relatively new and still unofficial style, the Triple IPA.  Featuring 12 different breweries and spanning 5 events around the Sound from Lynnwood down to Tacoma, the Roadshow was a great way to explore this strong and hop-heavy style of craft beer.  Well, the Roadshow is back for 2014 with more breweries, more events and even more Triple IPA goodness.

Stogies n Hops Set To Rock Lynnwood

When you go to a convenience store, what do you expect to find?  Chips, sodas, bottled water, cigarettes, beef jerky, candy bars, a few lotto tickets, etc., right?  Y’know, the usual stuff.  Well, what if there was a convenience store where you could not only get all of those things but also grab some lunch, throw back a few pints and perhaps even pick up a few bottles of your favorite craft beer and a fine cigar or two to take home?  Now there is.
