Georgetown Brewing Cans Manny’s For The First Time

Our World is changing. These days, most of us aren’t going about our usual daily routines the way we were just a few months ago. We’ve all had to make adjustments and that’s especially true of local small businesses, like breweries, trying to stay afloat in these trying times. Willingness to try new things has become a necessity for survival.

It wasn’t until just a couple of years ago that Georgetown Brewing Company started canning some of their beers. You can walk into just about any store that carries craft beer these days and find canned six-packs of Lucille, Roger’s Pilsner or Bodhizafa IPA. However, Georgtown’s flagship beer: Manny’s Pale Ale, has been conspicuously missing from their canned offerings, until now that is. On Saturday, May 23rd, Georgetown Brewing will offer Manny’s in the can for the first time.

Counterbalance Brewing Prepares For Their 5th Anniversary

Each year, Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle holds an IPA competition to select their House IPA for the next year. Georgetown Brewing Company is often the winner with their Bodhizafa IPA but, for the past couple of years, there’s been another brewery nipping at their heels. That brewery is Counterbalance Brewing Company and their popular Multipass IPA, which has come in 2nd place the past two years.

If Multipass IPA is the only beer you’re familiar with from Counterbalance, then it’s high time you paid them a visit to try some of their other tasty offerings. Mark your calendar for next Friday and Saturday, January 24th and 25th when Counterbalance is set to celebrate their 5th anniversary.

Celebrate March Mildness With Machine House Brewery

March is here.  That’s a big deal to college basketball fans. Not that I’m a big college hoops fan, but you’d have to be in a coma to now know what March Madness is.  Traditionally, however, March doesn’t mean much of anything special to craft beer drinkers.

Machine House Brewery wants to change that and give craft beer drinkers a different reason to be excited for March. Back again this year is their annual March Mildness event, taking place at a number of craft beer locations around the Sound.  Drink up plenty of Machine House’s Dark Mild and win prizes.

Counterbalance Brewing Issues Executive (Dis)order

In today’s America, it seems virtually impossible to escape the topic of politics.  Everything seems so politically charged these days, especially with the circus going on in Washington D.C.  So why fight it?  Instead how about naming a beer after it?

This past Friday, Counterbalance Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) released Executive (Dis)order Belgian Golden Strong Ale.  This beer does a lot more than just poke fun at politics though, a portion of the proceeds from all taproom sales of Executive (Dis)order will be donated to Legal Voice and their Beer Trumps Hate campaign. They’ve even setup a few events where you can buy a pint to help out – details below.

Doughnuts And Beer Returns To Lowercase Brewing

Craft beer and food pairings are everywhere these days, as they should be.  I’m glad we’re finally starting to reach the point where pairing great craft beers with great food is nearly as ubiquitous (at least here in the Northwest) as pairing wine with food.  In fact, I think that the range and diversity of craft beer styles offers even more exciting food pairing options than wine.

Beer and food parings are serious business.  In fact, next month during Seattle Beer Week, you’re sure to find some pretty amazing craft beer pairing dinners/events.  Not all pairings have to be so serious though. Perhaps you’ve read one of the recent articles about pairing craft beers with Girl Scout cookies?  It’s in that vein that Lowercase Brewing Company, along with their sister company Side Hustle Coffee & Doughnuts, are pleased to announce the return of their Doughnuts and Beer pairing event this Wednesday, April 18th from 6-9 pm.

Counterbalance Brewing And Sound Homebrew Team Up For A Pro-Am Homebrew Competition

Homebrewing is a big part of the craft beer World.  In fact, many of today’s professional brewers started out as homebrewers themselves before launching their professional breweries.  Many homebrewers enjoy entering their creations into local and national homebrew competitions.  Winning an award for your homebrew is always a great feeling.  I’ve won a few myself in my homebrewing days (though I’m between systems right now).

What if winning meant more than just a ribbon or certificate?  What if winning meant that your beer could be scaled up, brewed on a professional brewing system and made available for commercial sale?  Well that’s exactly what Counterbalance Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) and Sound Homebrew Supply are doing with their Really Big Georgetown Pro-Am Homebrew Competition.

Lowercase Brewing Hosts A Doughnuts And Beer Pairing Tomorrow

“Donuts. Is there anything they can’t do?” – Homer Simpson

Good question, Homer.  Good question.  I’m not sure what their true limitations are.  Right now, however, all you should care about is one thing doughnuts can do quite well and that’s pair with beer.  Gluten intollerants beware!  Coming up tomorrow, February 28th from 6 – 9 pm, Lowercase Brewing Company is teaming up with their own side business, Side-Hustle Coffee & Doughnuts, to bring you an evening of doughnuts paired with beer.

Apparently, it’s anniversary season yet again in Seattle.  Lowercase Brewing celebrated their 4th anniversary just this past weekend, Naked City has their 10th anniversary coming up this week, and The Shambles, which opened just this past weekend, will celebrate their 1st anniversary one year from now.

Now, with February almost upon us, Counterbalance Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor), is getting ready to celebrate their 3rd anniversary with 2 days of celebration and 2 beer releases, including their first ever Barleywine: Flight Risk.

Lowercase Brewing Prepares For Their 4th Anniversary

Are you ready to party?  Lowercase Brewing Company certainly is.  Their taproom on Airport Way South in Georgetown turned one just this past November, but the brewery itself (still in South Park) has been around for nearly four years now.

I won’t re-hash the story of how Lowercase wound up with a brewery in South Park but a taproom in Georgetown here, but if you read my previous article (at the link above), it will explain the situation.  It actually wound up being a good thing for Lowercase because their Georgetown taproom is larger than their old one and in a better location to get more traffic.

In preparation for their upcoming 4th Anniversary celebration on January 20th (4 – 10 pm), Lowercase has brewed up 4 special beers (for 4 years): iRISH Stout, Strata IPA, Barrel-Aged Winter Warmer and Hop Snow Hazy IPA.  There’ll also be live music and BBQ.
