Since you’re here, I’m going to assume you’re a craft beer fan, right? Great. Now, do you also have an Instagram account? (If not, it’s easy to sign up free at Instagram.com). Next, by any chance are you a fan of ski season and hitting the slopes? Finally, do you enjoy winning gift cards that can net you free craft beer schwag and lift tickets?
If you answered yes to all of these questions, then you’ll want to get in on Bale Breaker Brewing Company‘s #FRESHOFFTHESLOPES Instagram Photo challenge. All you have to do is follow White Pass and Bale Breaker on Instagram, snap a picture that includes Bale Breaker & White Pass and post it to Instagram with the tag #freshofftheslopes. Each week (from Jan. 1st thru Jan. 31st) five winners will be selected to receive a $25 Bale Breaker Gift Card and a $25 White Pass Gift Card. Then, those winners are eligible for the Escape to High Camp Grand Prize Package (details below).
The vast majority of brewers out there creating some of your favorite libations at countless craft breweries across the nation were, at one time, homebrewers. They started out small-scale, found their passion and decided to take it to the next level. Have you been homebrewing for a while? Do you get lots of compliments on your beers and feel like you might want to make a career out of brewing? Then you might want to seriously consider entering the Samuel AdamsLongShot American Homebrew Contest.
The winner will gain invaluable experience in a one-week ‘Brewership’ at the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery. Also, the winner and two runners up will attend the next Great American Beer Festival and will get a valuable scholarship for an online course at The Siebel Institute of Technology. This is an amazing opportunity for the right person to really take their passion for brewing and take a shot at making it their life’s work.
Brace yourself. This article gets pretty cheesy. A long time ago, while eating at a food truck not so far away… Hellbent Brewing Company thought, “What the Hell. Let’s pit two food trucks against each other, give it all a Star Wars Rogue One kind of theme and let’s make it a benefit for Seattle Children’s Hospital.”
It is a period of cheesy war. Rebel food trucks striking from hidden kitchens are seeking victory against the evil lactic empire and the stakes are high. They’ll need help from the Rebel Legion and the 501st Legion (who will be in attendance wearing costumes from the actual movies) if they are to be victorious. Your little Wookiees are welcome at this event too, as there will even be a Star Wars themed dog costume contest before the Roquefort-themed food truck competition kicks off.
Back in November of last year, I told you aboutReuben’s Brews‘ Hop Idol homebrew contest. As a call back to the homebrewing roots of founder Adam Robbings, Reuben’s Brews held this homebrew competition as a means to help inspire other homebrewers to chase their own brewery dreams.
Entrants could submit up to 5 entries each and all entries were due by January 17th. The judging took place the week of January 21st and now Reuben’s Brews is ready to announce the winner who will get to brew their beer with Reuben’s and see it distributed throughout Western Washington. The winning beer will also be entered into the Washington Beer Awards Pro-Am competition as well as the Great American Beer Festival.
Seattle is known for a lot of different things including coffee, craft beer and, of course, great seafood, and one of the most iconic and well known seafood names in Seattle is Ivar’s. First opened on the Seattle waterfront’s Pier 3 (now Pier 54) in 1938 , Ivar’s has expanded to 26 different locations around Washington state. Their clam chowder (and salmon chowder) have become the stuff of Seattle legend.
Hawaii is also known for it’s great seafood. Ivar’s knows this and is currently featuring some island themed menu choices including: Grilled Opah, Lomi-Lomi Salmon Salad, Coconut and Pineapple Carrot Cake and they’re even currently featuring Kona Brewing Compnay’s Big Wave Golden Ale and their new Hanalei Island Style IPA. If the sound of these island dishes has you in that tropical island mood and you’re looking to escape the cold this Winter, then you’ll want to enter Ivar’s Island Getaway contest for your chance to win a trip for 4 to Maui.
There are lots of great craft breweries in the Seattle area, and many of those breweries were founded by people who started off as homebrewers before making the leap to professional brewer. Adam Robbings, founder of Reuben’s Brews is one of them.
As a call back to Adam’s homebrewing roots, Reuben’s Brews has announced a homebrew competition as a means to help inspire other homebrewers to chase their own brewery dreams. The winner will receive a cash prize but, more importantly, will brew their winning homebrew with the crew at Reuben’s Brews and see their beer on tap at Reuben’s and in limited distribution around the Northwest. So fire up those brewing kettles and bring out your very best homebrew recipes, because (in my best Ryan Seacrest immitation) this… is Hop Idol!
All those other airlines suck. Fly Lagunitas! How would you like to win a Labor Day weekend trip for two to visit Lagunitas Brewing Company in Petaluma, California? I know I’d like to. I actually used to live in Petaluma several years back, but I moved away at just about the same time Lagunitas was just getting started there and never had the chance to check them out. I tried to visit last year but, due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had to cut my trip short and wasn’t able to visit. Even so, they’re still one of my favorite breweries and make some truly amazing beers.
