Beer Church IPA Arrives This Saturday

If there’s two things Seattle area breweries do well, besides brewing great craft beers of course, it’s collaboration and doing what they can to benefit worthwhile charitable causes.  That’s what Beer Church is all about.

This year, Beer Church has teamed up with Georgetown Brewing Company (recent winner of the GABF Gold Medal for their Bodhizafa IPA), Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor), Big Al Brewing Company and Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) to brew this year’s Beer Church IPA.  Proceeds from this beer will go to benefit the the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

Poker N Pints Returns Later This Month

Back in September, I published an article that gave you lots of great reasons to visit some of the breweries in Seattle’s South end (I can’t believe I neglected to include Big Al Brewing Company in that article.  I’m so sorry, Al!  I’ll come by for a visit soon.)  Now I’ve got another reason for you to visit the South end.  Coming up on Saturday, February 20th is South Seattle Poker N Pints.

This one day, multi-brewery event lets you enjoy great craft beer from local breweries and play a little poker to win some swag, all while helping raise funds for the Washington Brewshed Alliance who has taken over the organization of this event this year from Lisa Rough of Tin Dog Brewing Company.

Right now it’s Winter beer season.  And I couldn’t be happier with this year’s lineup of great Winter beers.  There is just so much wonderfully dark, rich, woody, bourbony, delicious goodness out there with the likes of Hoppy Holidays & Hoppy The Woodsman (Schooner Exact Brewing), Winter Bock (Silver City Brewing), Creepy Monkey Bourbon Barrel-Aged Brown (North Sound Brewing), The Abyss (Deschutes Brewing), Bindlestiff (Naked City Brewing), Jolly Roger Christmas Ale (Maritime Pacific Brewing), Bifrost Ale (Elysian Brewing), Bourbon Barrel Abominable Ale (Fremont Brewing) and many, many more.  For anyone who is a fan of these darker, often barrel-aged, complex and delicious Winter delights, this is a great time of year to be a beer drinker.
