Cascade Brewing Releases Mango Road

There are several breweries in the Seattle/Tacoma area that make some truly excellent Sour Ales. Breweries like Holy Mountain, Urban Family, Mirage and Engine House No. 9 immediately come to mind, among others. I visit them all fairly regularly to satiate my thirst for delicious sours.

Before we had such great sour options around the Sound, however, the best Sour Ales Seattlites could hope to find came out of Portland – specifically Cascade Brewing. Their Sours are legendary around the Northwest and, while we have many great local options now, Cascade is still putting out World class Sour Ales that still catch my interest. They’re a must visit every time I’m in Portland. Now Cascade is preparing to release their latest offering: Mango Road.

Sierra Nevada to Release Dankful IPA, Donate $1 Million to Community Nonprofits

Chico, CA—Sierra Nevada announced plans today to release Dankful IPA, a generously hoppy beer that will help the brewery raise funds for a variety of charitable works. The brewery has committed to at least $1 million in donations through the program over the next year.
Dankful is brewed in honor of the nonprofits who are dedicated to the important work of supporting our communities. A hoppy West Coast-style IPA, Dankful will be on shelves in cans nationwide starting in mid-September. The beer is 7.4% ABV with 55 IBU and has a resinous flavor with notes of pine and tropical fruit.

Rather than making donations contingent upon Dankful sales success, Sierra Nevada has committed to at least $1 million in donations over the next year, which will be supported in part by Dankful sales. Sierra Nevada will partner with new nonprofits each quarter, allowing the brewery to be nimble and immediate in its efforts.

“With ongoing fundraising through Dankful, we can immediately support those nonprofits doing critical work in our communities by getting them what they need when they need it,” explained Sierra Nevada Vice President Sierra Grossman. “Dankful allows us to focus on what we do best: supporting the causes we believe in and brewing great beer.”

Black Raven Prepares For Their 10th Annual Flock Party

I’ve been following Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) ever since they first began, taking up just a small portion of the building at 14679 NE 95th Street in Redmond. Today they occupy virtually the entire building and just recently opened their 2nd location at 15902 Woodinville Road in Woodinville. Over the years they’ve provided us with so many amazing and memorable beers. Some of those that stick out the most in my mind include: Trickster IPA, Wisdom Seeker Double IPA, La Petite Mort (and La Mort Bourbon!), Kitty Kat Blues, Second Sight Scotch Ale, Great Grandfather Raven Bourbon Imperial Stout, Gunpowder Plot Nitro Porter and many, many more.

Their new Woodinville brewery and taproom is quite impressive. The taproom is a big, open space with large windows behind the bar, allowing you to see right into the brewery. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit yet, then here’s your perfect excuse. This Saturday, August 17th, Black Raven Brewing Company will celebrate their 10th Anniversary with the 10th annual Flock Party at their new Woodinville location.

Each year, as Seattle’s Summer starts to wane, our palates grow eager with anticipation of one of the best Seasonal craft beer styles for hopheads: Fresh Hop Ales.  Ordinarily, Fresh Hop Ale season doesn’t get started until late August or even early September, as the hop harvest gets under way.  This year, however, hops at Puterbaugh Farms in Yakima Valley were ready early thanks to ideal growing conditions.

As a result, Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor), always first out of the gate each year with their Fresh Hop IPA, is bringing it to you even earlier than usual.  In just two days, on Friday, August 3rd, come down to Two Beers Brewing for the release of their 2018 Fresh Hop IPA.

Introducing Sound Craft Seltzer Co. The Newest Sister Company To Two Beers Brewing

Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) has had quite the journey.  They started off back in 2007, brewing just 100 barrels per year and, since then, they’ve never stopped growing.  Year after year, Two Beers has just kept on expanding.  They’ve updated and upgraded their taproom, The Woods, several times since 2007 and, back in 2013, they announced the launch of their wildly successful sister company: Seattle Cider Company.

Then just two years ago in 2016, Two Beer announced that they had been acquired by Agrial Group, a leading French agri-business cooperative.  Since that acquisition, however, not much has changed.  Now comes the first big announcement since that acquisition.  Two Beers Brewing Company is pleased to announce the launch of their newest sister company: Sound Craft Seltzer Co.

Since you’re here, I’m assuming you enjoy craft beer.  How about hiking?  Do you enjoy hiking as well?  Great.  Do you also enjoy doing what you can to help protect our Northwest forests, waters and wildlife?  If the answer is still yes, then strap on your hiking shoes and get registered with Washington Wild for one (or more) of three hikes coming up later this month, in July and in August.
