Populuxe Brewing Prepares For Their 5th Anniversary

There are breweries spread out all over Seattle, covering almost every neighborhood.  In fact, most Seattle residents live within just a few miles (or even closer) of at least one craft brewery.  That’s especially true if you live in Ballard, which still has the highest concentration of craft breweries in Seattle, most within just a few blocks of each other.

One of those Ballard breweries is Populuxe Brewing Company, which was first launched back in 2012 by co-founders Peter Charbonnier and Amy Besunder in a small space on NW 49th Street. They received a very positive response, kept on brewing and, in late 2016, a new, larger space became available right on the same lot. By September 2017, they were ready to debut their new space.

Much larger than the original space, Populuxe’s new taproom features 12 taps, plenty of seating and even an arcade room, packed with pinball machines and classic arcade games.  It’s the perfect venue for their upcoming beach blanket bingo themed 5th Anniversary celebration, which is set for this coming Saturday, March 10th.

Lowercase Brewing Hosts A Doughnuts And Beer Pairing Tomorrow

“Donuts. Is there anything they can’t do?” – Homer Simpson

Good question, Homer.  Good question.  I’m not sure what their true limitations are.  Right now, however, all you should care about is one thing doughnuts can do quite well and that’s pair with beer.  Gluten intollerants beware!  Coming up tomorrow, February 28th from 6 – 9 pm, Lowercase Brewing Company is teaming up with their own side business, Side-Hustle Coffee & Doughnuts, to bring you an evening of doughnuts paired with beer.

Lucky Envelope Brewing Prepares To Celebrate Chinese New Year

Living in the South end and working the early hours I do, I don’t get to Ballard as often as I’d like.  Thankfully, I can usually find at least some beers from a few of my favorite Ballard area breweries either on tap at some good, local craft beer bars or in bottles or cans.

One of the breweries I try to visit when I do manage to get to Ballard is Lucky Envelope Brewing Company.  I enjoy their IPAs and a few of their more unusual offerings.  Now, Lucky Envelope is preparing to release five specialty beers in celebration of Chinese New Year – Year of the Earth Dog.   Continue reading

Alesong Brewing and Blending out of Eugene, Oregon is gearing up to release five new beers for their upcoming quarterly release and is also planning to host a celebration for their Seattle area members who purchase in the online presale (Join for details).

Alesong primarily distributes their limited quantity of bottled beers through their mailing list. Want in? You can join their mailing list at the link above. Naked City Celebrates Their 9th Anniversary On Camano Island

The location of a craft brewery can sometimes influence how often you might visit.  If a brewery you enjoy is further away from you, then you have to decide if the quality of the beer and the atmosphere of the establishment are worth the extra time and effort.  I’m chagrined to say that I don’t always take the time or make the effort I should to visit breweries that are a bit father from home (my unusual work schedule doesn’t help either).  Don’t get me wrong though, I do plan the occasional day or even overnight trip to visit breweries that are a bit of a trek, including breweries in Bellingham, Spokane, Portland, Bend, etc.

Naked City Brewery & Taphouse up in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood has been one of my local favorites for years but, unfortunately, I don’t take the time to head North to visit them as often as I should.  When they opened their new Camano Island location back in April though, I made sure I took the time to head up for a visit.  It’s a great location and, style-wise, not much different from their original location in Greenwood.  Now with their 9th Anniversary approaching, Naked City has decided to celebrate at their Camano Island location with a new Fall food menu, some rare Naked City beers and a Mug Club.

Stoup Brewing Prepares For Their 4th Anniversary

There are a number of breweries in Seattle that have been around and been popular for several years.  As a result, it’s sometimes easy to forget that some the most popular breweries in Seattle today are actually quite young.  One such youngster among us is Stoup Brewing Company in Ballard.

Not quite 4 years old now, Stoup has amassed a loyal following thanks to beers like their extremely popular Citra IPA and their award winning Robust Porter and Russian Imperial Stout.  Not content with just a single celebration this year, Stoup has decided to stretch out their 4th Anniversary celebration in to a week full of events.
