Foreigner Plays Pike Brewing Next Month

I’ve got an Urgent message for all you Hot Blooded classic rock fans out there, and you won’t have to go a Long, Long Way From Home to experience it. On Monday, September 16th from 5 – 8 pm legendary rock band Foreigner will be playing an intimate set, including a meet and greet with the band, at Pike Brewing Company.

These Juke Box Heroes are set to play the Washington State Fair on September 18th, but you can see and meet the band at Pike instead for far less than you’d spend for the VIP experience at the Fairgrounds. Enjoy an intimate acoustic set, meet the band, and enjoy some Cold As Ice Pike Beers.

Reuben’s Brews Prepares For Their 7th Anniversary

When you stop to think, it’s actually pretty amazing that Reuben’s Brews has only been around for just under 7 years. In that relatively short time, they’ve amassed a huge and loyal following, expanded the brewery twice (now encompassing three locations) and expanded their distribution across the state and into Oregon.

Their popular ‘Crush’ series keeps the hits coming, but hazy IPAs are by no means all Reubens brews. At their taproom on 14th Ave NW, you’ll find well over 20 beers on tap at any given time, spanning styles including: Pilsers, Goses, Belgian Wits, Porters, Stouts, Sours and more. The tap list as Reuben’s Brewtap (800 NW 46th St.) is a bit smaller, but you’ll still find the same wide variety.

As they approach the 7 year mark, Reuben’s is preparing for an anniversary celebration at all three of their locations: The 14th Ave NW taproom, the Brewtap and their original brewery location on NW 53rd Street.

Black Raven Prepares For Their 10th Annual Flock Party

I’ve been following Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) ever since they first began, taking up just a small portion of the building at 14679 NE 95th Street in Redmond. Today they occupy virtually the entire building and just recently opened their 2nd location at 15902 Woodinville Road in Woodinville. Over the years they’ve provided us with so many amazing and memorable beers. Some of those that stick out the most in my mind include: Trickster IPA, Wisdom Seeker Double IPA, La Petite Mort (and La Mort Bourbon!), Kitty Kat Blues, Second Sight Scotch Ale, Great Grandfather Raven Bourbon Imperial Stout, Gunpowder Plot Nitro Porter and many, many more.

Their new Woodinville brewery and taproom is quite impressive. The taproom is a big, open space with large windows behind the bar, allowing you to see right into the brewery. If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit yet, then here’s your perfect excuse. This Saturday, August 17th, Black Raven Brewing Company will celebrate their 10th Anniversary with the 10th annual Flock Party at their new Woodinville location.

The West Seattle Beer & Music Festival Returns In August

I don’t live in West Seattle, but I do spend quite a bit of time there. It’s one of my favorite Seattle neighborhoods and offers a little something for everyone. There’s a lot to do down by the waterfront, the restaurant scene is great and the craft beer scene is on point with two of Seattle’s best craft beer bars: Beveridge Place Pub and The Beer Junction.

Last year’s first annual West Seattle Beer & Music Festival was a wonderful celebration of microbrews and music from the Northwest, and now it’s set to return for a second year at the Alki Masonic Center on August 23rd & 24th.

Eastside Beer Week Kicks Off In July

Seattle Beer Week has been running for over a decade now. This year’s festivities marked the 11th year for Seattle Beer Week and it shows no signs of slowing down. While it is, of course, Seattle based, Seattle Beer Week featured beers from all around the sound. However, Seattle Beer Week and all of the events surrounding it aren’t always that convenient for people who live over on the East side. So this July, get ready for the first annual Eastside Beer Week,

Like Seattle Beer Week, Eastside Beer Week (EBW) will be 10 days long, and is set to feature events at breweries and craft beer spots along the 1-405 corridor. If you don’t get over to the East side that often, you might not be aware that there are well over 30 breweries on the East side. I’ve been to most of them myself but not all, so this is an excellent excuse for me to visit those I haven’t been to yet. Mark your calendar now for the ‘week’ of July 12th to the 21st, and prepare to head East.

Oktoberfest Northwest Tickets On Sale Now

Right now, Oktoberfest is probably the last thing on your mind. We’ve been having a great Spring and Summer is right around the corner so why, you might be asking yourself, is anyone thinking about Oktoberfest already?

Granted, Oktoberfest is quite a ways off at this point. However, if you want to make sure you can attend this year’s festivities, you’ll want to purchase your tickets before they sell out (especially VIP and Fest Stein & Beer Package tickets). That’s why, even though it’s only Spring, it’s a really good idea to purchase your tickets for Oktoberfest Northwest now. Buying early even gets you a discount. This year’s event is presented by Evergreen Eye Center.

Fort George Partners With Cloudburst & Ruse For This Year’s 3-Way IPA

Do IPAs have a season? Years ago, I used to think of the IPA as a bit more of a Spring/Summer beer, but their unrelenting popularity and proliferation has allowed the IPA to defy any kind of seasonal constraints. As the #1 most popular, style of craft beer that makes sense and explains why it’s so easy to find IPAs on tap all the time, and pretty much anywhere you go.

Fort George Brewing Company out of Astoria, Oregon clearly understands this demand for IPAs. In addition to all their other great IPAs, each year since 2013 Fort George has searched for other breweries to collaborate with in order to bring us that wonderful IPA known as 3-Way. Now, in collaboration with Cloudburst Brewing Company and Ruse Brewing, this year’s 3-Way is ready to make its debut.

Craft Beer Monger’s Picks For Seattle Beer Week 11

Even though I knew it was coming, Seattle Beer Week (SBW) kind of snuck up on me this year. I can’t believe it kicks off in just 2 days! There are a few events that happen each year that I usually attend so I’m set there. However, I didn’t find much time until this past weekend to look over the rest of this year’s SBW events and choose which ones I’d either like to attend myself and/or that I’d like to suggest to you. I’m here to fix that.

How about you? Have you found the time to look over the ever growing list of events on the official Seattle Beer Week website? If not, don’t worry. I took the time to read through the details of every event that’s been posted for this year’s festivities, and I’m here to give you my suggestions for the best events to pick from for Seattle Beer Week #11.  Here we go!

Dates Set For 2019 Bend Brewfest

I love Washington beer.  We have some truly incredible breweries here in Washington state; some of the best in the nation in my humble opinion and, while I try to drink local as much as I can, I don’t limit myself to drinking beers from Washington exclusively.  Our neighbor to the South, Oregon, also has some of the nation’s best breweries and I enjoy beers from them regularly.

Some of my favorite Oregon breweries are from the Bend area, which is why I’m pleased to announced that dates have been set for the 2019 Bend Brewfest.  This year’s festival will take place on August 15th thru the 17th in the Les Schwab Amphitheater.

Dark Heron IPA Returns For Emerald City Comic Con

Seattle is known for many different things.  Two of the most prominent are, of course, coffee and craft beer.  What some of you might not know, however, is that Seattle has a huge video game and comic book community.  The annual PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) started here (which I used to report on annually when I wrote about video games), and Emerald City Comic Con has been happening every year since 2003.  Last year’s attendance was over 95 thousand comic fans.

A few years back, Fremont Brewing Company partnered with ReedPOP, producer Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC), to create an ECCC-themed beer.  The result was Dark Heron IPA. Now returning for its fourth year, Dark Heron features artwork by local Seattle artist Julia Reck and will be available on tap throughout ECCC’s run, and in cans for the first time.
