The Brewmaster’s Taproom Prepares For Their 1st Anniversary

There are quite a few breweries and craft beer bars right in Seattle, North of Seattle and East of Seattle.  South of Seattle though, until you get down closer to Tacoma, breweries and even craft beer bars become more sparse and difficult to find.  As far as breweries south of Seattle city limits go, we’ve got Odin in Tukwila, Elliott Bay in Burien and Airways Brewing (CBM Sponsor) in Kent (plus Strong Arm, Four Generals and Herbert B. Friendly in Renton).

Craft beer bars seem even more sparse South of Seattle.  The only ones that come immediately to mind are the Dog & Pony Alehouse (Renton), Pit Stop Taproom & Pub (Burien) and, of course, The Brewmaster’s Taproom (Renton).  Just a reminder, though, the the grand opening for Burien’s newest craft beer bar, Flight Path, happens tomorrow at 5 pm.

13305201_10154272305629479_178548053531543678_o

Back in March of this year, I told you about some coming changes for Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor).  Since opening six years ago on 196th Street in Kent (and the opening of Airways Brewing Beer & Bistro one year later), they’ve continued to grow, pushing the limits of their current brewery space.  The time had come to expand.

Well, Airways has been working on that expansion as well as re-branding themselves with a new logo which debuted earlier today, and now they’re ready to share some more details about the new space, their expanded hours and the grand opening date for the new brewery.

Airways Brewing Company Is Moving And Expanding For Their 6th Anniversary

AirwaysBrewingLogo

Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) has been at their location on South 196th Street in Kent since they first opened 6 years ago.  They’ve expanded the taproom since then and added a second location (Airways Brewing Beer & Bistro on West Harrison Street), but their main location has remained the same.  That’s about to change.

For the past few months, Airways Brewing has been working diligently to prepare a new 9,000 square foot space a bit father South on 212th Street, and they’re nearly ready to unveil it to the public.  It’s won’t be ready to open until early to mid Spring, but that won’t stop Airways from celebrating their 6th Anniversary now.

Airways Brewing Prepares For Their 5th Anniversary

AirwaysLogo_Blue

Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) first opened their doors to the public on March 11th of 2010.  Since that time they’ve really grown.  They added a second location (The Airways Brewing Beer & Bistro) just a year after launching.  They expanded their taproom and, of course, continued to offer tasty new beers including several seasonal and special releases.

On opening day, the first beers offered from Airways included: T-Tail Blonde, Jet City ESB, and Starliner Stout.  Their signature Sky Hag IPA wouldn’t exist for another seven months and many of their popular, special releases and seasonal offerings were months or years away.  It seems like such a long time ago but it’s only been five short years, and now Airways is preparing to celebrate their 5th Anniversary.  There will be special beer releases (including a special 5th Anniversary Mosaic Pilsner), food, music and fun for all (21+).

Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) is obsessed with all things having to do with aviation.  This should come as no surprise based on their name, and is obvious to anyone who has visited the brewery in Kent.  Now, to help celebrate that obsession, Airways Brewing is releasing #AvGeek Hoppy Pale Ale.  A limited edition Pale Ale Brewed in conjunction with AirlineReporter.com, #AvGeek Hoppy Pale Ale will be available in time for the annual Aviation Geek Fest (Feb. 21-22 in Seattle).

Sky Hag Turns 4 With A Halloween Party & Costume Contest

Sky Hag Birthday Bash 3

Located in Kent, Washington, Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) first opened their doors to the public in March 2010.  In October of that same year, they introduced their signature IPA: Sky Hag, the first new beer to be added to the Airways Brewing lineup since their launch earlier in the year.

Now, with Halloween fast approaching, it’s time once again to celebrate Sky Hag’s birthday and Airways Brewing has decided to combine that celebration with a Halloween party and costume contest at the brewery on Friday, October 31st.  Also on tap for the celebration will be a keg of Ol’ Wooden Hag – Sky Hag’s ‘sister’ (aged on toasted oak), as well as Loud Lady Imperial IPA.

Airways Brewing Introduces Seat Kicker IPA

22ozBottle_SkyHagIPA

Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) is having quite a Spring this year.  They’ve been busy expanding the Airways Brewing Beer & Bistro to increase capacity, and also just won their very first World Beer Cup medal for their 3rd Anniversary Belgian Dark Strong Ale.  Now, fresh off that medal win and the recent release of PSA Summer Ale, Airways Brewing Company is proud to introduce their newest beer: Seat Kicker IPA.

Airways has been keeping the wraps on this beer for a while now and are proud to introduce it along with their latest airline-themed character, the Seat Kicker; created by Brett Nilsson, the same Washington artist who helped Airways Brewing Craft their well known Sky Hag and Loud Lady characters, which you’ll find on the labels of Sky Hag IPA and Loud Lady Imperial IPA respectively.

Airways Brewing Celebrates Their First World Beer Cup Medal

WorldBeerCupLogo2014

Only a smattering of Washington State breweries won medals at this year’s World Beer Cup competition in Colorado.  As the proliferation of craft breweries continues unabated, there’s more and more competition each year from all across the nation and the World.  This year’s competition had 4,754 entries from 1,403 breweries, representing 58 different countries.  That’s a lot of competition!

Each medal won at the World Beer Cup is a badge of honor for the winning breweries, proclaiming to the World that their beers are considered some of the best available on this small, blue marble we call Earth.  ‘Best’ is always subjective, of course, but it’s nice to be recognized by your peers for all the hard work that goes into your brews.

Cool Down This Summer With PSA Summer Ale From Airways Brewing

AirwaysSponsorLogo1

It’s warming up out there.  In fact, I believe yesterday (4/7) was our warmest day yet this year.  It officially reached 70 at SeaTac and closer to 72/73 in many other places around the Sound (including 78 out in Carnation!)  It’s cooled back down a bit today, but there’s no denying that Spring is here and Summer can’t be far behind.

Our Summers are, unfortunately, rather short in Seattle.  The running half joke heard around town is that Seattle’s Summer starts on July 5th and ends on September 1st.  During that short time, however, we North Westerners really get out there and take advantage of the warmth and sun as much as we can while it lasts.  Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) wants to help you enjoy your Summer this year with the arrival of PSA Summer Ale, releasing today in 16oz can 4-packs at both Airways Brewing locations and any day in local bottle shops.
