Chainline Brewing Hosts Bitter Is Coming II

As the weather gets colder and wetter out there, the Fall and Winter beer releases just keep on coming.  I hope your wallet hasn’t taken too hard of a hit yet, because there are still several more releases to come.  After all, Winter hasn’t even started yet.

Next up for Fall releases is Chainline Brewing Company out of Kirkland.  This coming Saturday, November 18th, they’ll be hosting Bitter is Coming II – Welcome To Winter (& Return of the De-Railer!).  This annual taproom party will be the setting for the release of three special, seasonal beers from Chainline.

Two Beers Brewing Prepares For Their 10th Anniversary

With so many breweries in Seattle, it seems like there’s always an anniversary celebration just around the corner (not that I’m complaining or anything!).  Over the past few months I’ve told you about anniversary celebrations from such local breweries as Lucky Envelope, Hellbent, Stoup and Naked City and there’s still more anniversary celebrations to come before the year is out.

Now Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone.  Coming up on Saturday, November 4th, they’ll be celebrating their 10th Anniversary. Rather than celebrating for just one day, however, Two Beers has nearly an entire week of events lined up, culminating with the Grand Celebration on the 4th.

Naked City Celebrates Their 9th Anniversary On Camano Island

The location of a craft brewery can sometimes influence how often you might visit.  If a brewery you enjoy is further away from you, then you have to decide if the quality of the beer and the atmosphere of the establishment are worth the extra time and effort.  I’m chagrined to say that I don’t always take the time or make the effort I should to visit breweries that are a bit father from home (my unusual work schedule doesn’t help either).  Don’t get me wrong though, I do plan the occasional day or even overnight trip to visit breweries that are a bit of a trek, including breweries in Bellingham, Spokane, Portland, Bend, etc.

Naked City Brewery & Taphouse up in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood has been one of my local favorites for years but, unfortunately, I don’t take the time to head North to visit them as often as I should.  When they opened their new Camano Island location back in April though, I made sure I took the time to head up for a visit.  It’s a great location and, style-wise, not much different from their original location in Greenwood.  Now with their 9th Anniversary approaching, Naked City has decided to celebrate at their Camano Island location with a new Fall food menu, some rare Naked City beers and a Mug Club.

Redfeather IPA Arrives This Week From Black Raven Brewing

unnamed-13

I hope you’ve all been having a wonderful Holiday season.  Winter officially arrived yesterday, though it feels like it’s already been here a bit longer.  To keep warm through our chilly Fall, I’ve been enjoying plenty of high octane, barrel aged beers (Lord knows, there have been enough great barrel aged releases around here lately).  I really love all those dark, strong, Winter-time beers but sometimes, even in the colder temperatures out there, my palate (and my liver) could use a break from something so heavy.

That’s where the Session IPA comes in.  Session IPAs are lower in alcohol, but still retain much of the hoppy punch you love from traditional IPAs. They’re crisp and refreshing and one the Northwest’s finest examples of the style, Redfeather Session IPA, returns tomorrow (12/23) from Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor).

Here is some more information about Redfeather Session IPA from Black Raven Brewing Company:

Release date: Friday, December 23rd

The Redfeather SIPA is brewed in the session IPA style. This beer presents the hop bitterness and flavor of a red IPA but in a more refreshing, lower alcohol version.

Additional crystal malts contribute the red hue and malt backbone to layer the hops onto. Hop varieties include Super Galena, Northern Brewer and Citra.

2016 GABF WINNER
Gold Medal – ESB category

ABV: 4.8%

On draft, growler fills and 22oz bottles available to go.

So, while I’m sure most of you will be digging into your cellars this Christmas to impress friends or family with a few extra special bottle selections (or just enjoying them yourself), be sure to stop by Black Raven to grab a growler or two of Redfeather Session IPA, so you and your guests have something a bit lighter and hoppier to enjoy as well.

Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.

Overhang Bourbon Imperial Porter Returns From Two Beers Brewing

If you’re a fan of barrel aged stouts and porters then you know that Fall can be a trying time for your wallet.  Over the past couple of months, I’ve been to several different barrel aged beer releases and, by no means, was I alone at these releases.  Most had a line stretching down the street and around the corner with many people in line buying up to their allowed limit.

Well, I hope you haven’t depleted your holiday season craft beer spending limit yet, because Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) is pleased to announce the return of Overhang Bourbon Imperial Porter this Friday, December 16th at The Woods taproom.

wec1

Back in late September, I told you about a beer tasting dinner cruise with Waterways Cruises And Events, featuring beers from Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor).  My wife and I were scheduled to go on this cruise, but an unexpected schedule conflict meant that we had to cancel.  Hopefully, some of you out there learned about the cruise here and were able to take advantage of it.

For those of us who missed the last cruise, now is our second chance.  Coming up on Friday, December 2nd, Waterways Cruises And Events is hosting another dinner cruise on Lake Union and Lake Washington.  This cruise will feature beers from Pike Brewing Company.

Pyramid Celebrates 30 Years Of Snow Cap Winter Warmer – UPDATED

pyramidseattle1

Pyramid Brewing Company has been around for quite a while.  They began as Hart Brewing way back in 1984 and have been through several small changes, including changes in ownership, since then.  While their main brewing operation today is in Portland, they continue to produce beer at their Seattle brewery location on 1st Avenue South, right across from Safeco Field. Pyramid produces a number of different Ales, including their popular Winter Warmer, Snow Cap.

It’s amazing to think that Pyramid has been producing Snow Cap for 30 years now.  That’s longer than some of you reading this have even been alive.  Now, Pyramid is preparing three special releases in celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Snow Cap.

Two of my biggest passions in life are craft beer and dogs.  I’m a huge fan of both, and love it when breweries team up to help our furry friends.  Coming up this Saturday, three Seattle breweries: Counterbalance Brewing Company, Tin Dog Brewing Company and Perihelion Brewery, are teaming up with Urban Feed and Garden to host Dogtoberfest, a family friendly event to benefit the Seattle Humane Pet Project.

Enjoying craft beer is all about appreciating the skill of the brew master and treating your taste buds, while having a great time with friends and family.  So, if you’re feeling resentful or holding onto a grudge about something this holiday season, Let it go.  Be like Fort George Brewing Company.  Be Magnanimous.

This Fall/Winter Seasonal Ale is brewed with Grand Fir trimmings from Earth & Sky Farm in Oregon City, which Fort George co-owner Chris Nemlowill has been storing in his basement since May when they were picked.  Magnanimous IPA is a great way for hopheads like me to enjoy the Holidays and Hops at the same time.
