Raid The Cellar At Cascade Brewing

As I recently mentioned in another article here on CraftBeerMonger.com, Cascade Brewing Company in Portland, Oregon has, for years, set the gold standard for Sour Ales produced in the Pacific Northwest. They’ve been producing outstanding Sour Ales since 2006 and I can honestly say I’ve never had a beer from them that I don’t like.

Most craft beer lovers I know have at least a few Cascade bottles in their cellar. If you don’t, or if you’d like to make your cellar a bit more Cascade heavy, then they have an event coming up next week that you’ll want to check out. From July 22nd through July 29th, Cascade is hosting a “Raid The Cellar” event, with heavily discounted pricing on select Sour Ales.

Craft Beer Monger’s Picks For Seattle Beer Week 11

Even though I knew it was coming, Seattle Beer Week (SBW) kind of snuck up on me this year. I can’t believe it kicks off in just 2 days! There are a few events that happen each year that I usually attend so I’m set there. However, I didn’t find much time until this past weekend to look over the rest of this year’s SBW events and choose which ones I’d either like to attend myself and/or that I’d like to suggest to you. I’m here to fix that.

How about you? Have you found the time to look over the ever growing list of events on the official Seattle Beer Week website? If not, don’t worry. I took the time to read through the details of every event that’s been posted for this year’s festivities, and I’m here to give you my suggestions for the best events to pick from for Seattle Beer Week #11.  Here we go!

Help Two Beers Brewing Climb For A Cause At Their Beer + Gear Sale

Do you enjoy craft beer? Do you enjoy hiking, climbing and other outdoor activities? Do you enjoy buying your outdoor gear at a good price, all while helping raise funds for Washington’s National Park Fund (WNPF)? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) has an event coming up this weekend you might be interested in.

This Sunday, April 20th, Two Beers Brewing kicks off their 4th Annual Beer + Gear sale to benefit WNPF. Last year they raised over $25k, and they’re hoping to outdo themselves this year. Don’t need any beer or new gear? No problem. You can still make a donation to help out WNPF. Details below.

Harvestfest Happens This Month In SoDo

Can you have too many craft beer festivals?  It’s a quiet, behind-the-scenes type of debate here in the Northwest where breweries and craft beer festivals are plentiful.  We have so many annual festivals that some attendees and some breweries can sometimes get festival fatigue.  Those on the other side of the coin argue that there can’t be too much of a good thing and any reason one can find to create a new craft beer festival should be taken advantage of.

I can understand the viewpoint on both sides of this debate but I figure, as long as all these festivals can still find enough interested craft beer lovers to attend, then we’ll keep getting more.  With that in mind, I’d like to introduce you to the Seattle Harvestfest, which will be coming to Utah Avenue South next Thursday, September 14th.  Brought to you by Cask Creek Productions, this festival is a celebration of all the Fall/Harvest season styles we all enjoy.

Join Three Magnets And Tavour For A Beer Release And Free Tasting

A couple of years ago I told you about a beer delivery service named Tavour.  They send you daily emails with different beers you can order (from breweries both near and far) and then, every couple of weeks, Tavour ships the beers you’ve ordered out to you – or you can pick your orders up at their warehouse location in Seattle.

One of the many local breweries Tavour has teamed up with is Three Magnets Brewing Company out of Olympia and they’d both like to invite you to a tasting and beer release party at the Tavour Warehouse this Thursday, August 31st.  This is a ticketed but free event where you can taste some Three Magnets beers, including their new GoldStorm Double IPA and their Gold Medal winning, Tavour-exclusive: Autumnal Dark Farmhouse Ale, all while listing to Americana music by Joey Capaccio and Kend Winter.

Black Raven’s 8th Annual Flock Party & Ravenmaster Club Open Enrollment

Each year around this time, there’s a big party out in Redmond.  If you’re a fan of Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor), then you know that I’m referring, of course, to their annual Flock Party anniversary celebration.

Set to take place on Saturday, May 6th from noon – 7 pm, this year’s Flock Party will include live music, plenty of ‘rare birds’ (rare and unique Black Raven beers, including some Tiki-drink inspired infusions this year), food, a retail merchandise booth and even an outdoor cigar lounge/booth.  Well-behaved and leashed dogs will also be welcome and, if you run short on cash, there will be an ATM on site.

Schooner Exact Prepares For Their 10th Anniversary

Seattle’s South end craft beer scene has really grown up.  Less than a decade ago, it was a struggle to find any craft breweries (besides Georgetown Brewing or Pyramid Brewing) South of downtown.  Now, the South end rivals Ballard for the sheer number of breweries you can visit (if you include SoDo, Georgetown and Columbia City).

One of the South End breweries that’s been around the longest is Schooner Exact Brewing Company.  They started as a small nano-brewery back in 2007 and have grown steadily into an excellent craft brewery and restaurant.  Now, several expansions, remodels and menu changes later, Schooner Exact is just about ready to celebrate their 10th Anniversary with a 10-day long celebration.
