Sierra Nevada Brews Resilience IPA For Camp Fire Relief

The fires this year in California have been devastating – particularly the one known as the Camp Fire.  Entire communities have disappeared and thousands have been displaced.  It is also the deadliest wildfire in California state history, with the death toll reaching at least 81 people – and that number is expected to rise as the number of missing/unaccounted for people is still over 870 people.

Fortunately, I don’t know anyone directly affected by the fire(s) (though I do have relatives in Chico – where it got pretty close!), but I know a few people who have family and/or friends who have lost their homes.  It’s a heartbreaking situation, but Sierra Nevada Brewing Company wants to help.

The Ballard Brewed Winter Beer Festival Is Coming Up

I know it’s only Fall.  Winter doesn’t officially arrive until late December, but craft beer has always been a bit ahead of the curve (Pumpkin beers showing up in early August, anyone?)  Being a big fan of Winter beers though, I certainly don’t mind when they start arriving a bit early.

Apparently, nether do many of the breweries in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.  Because, coming up this coming Saturday, November 3rd is the Ballard Brewed Winter Beer Festival to Benefit Bellwether Housing.  Drink Winter beers from eleven different Ballard breweries and do your part to help Bellwether Housing – creating affordable housing in Seattle.

Celebrate Halloween At Hellbent’s Beer N Bones Blacklight Bash for Puerto Rico

Don’t you just hate it when Halloween falls on a Wednesday?  I mean, do you celebrate the weekend before or the weekend after?  Some might say both.  Some might say celebrate on the day anyway, even if it’s a Wednesday.  Personally, I like the idea of celebrating the weekend before and the weekend after.

If you’re planning on celebrating Halloween this year on the weekend before the 31st, then Hellbent Brewing Company has an event you might want to check out.  On Saturday, October 27th, they’ll be hosting a Beer N Bones Backlight Bash with a portion of the proceeds from sales of their Funky Red Patina going to benefit Solarize Puerto Rico.  They’ll also be releasing their 2018 Warm Fuzzies Winter Ale.

Aslan Brewing Partners With Growing Veterans

You’re here, so I assume you enjoy locally made craft beer.  I’m also going to assume you’re a decent person because the vast majority of craft beer drinkers I know are decent people.  So you probably are as well, right?  Since you’re a decent person, then I know you also care about our Veterans.

I may not support the current administration in the White House, but I’ve always supported and respected our men and women in uniform.  Veterans made sacrifices for our freedoms – some making the ultimate sacrifice.  Many are still suffering in isolation, often leading to suicide. It’s the mission of Growing Veterans to end the loneliness and isolation that can lead to Veteran suicides and Aslan Brewing Company wanted to help.  That’s why they’ve teamed up with Growing Veterans to create Charlie Foxtrot IPA, brewed with hops grown and hand-picked by Growing Veterans’ veteran members from their Growing Veterans Organic Hops program. It will be released next Saturday the 29th, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit Growing Veterans.

Reuben’s Brews Hits A Community Donations Milestone

I love the craft beer community – especially here in the Northwest.  It goes well beyond just beer.  Sure, different breweries are in competition with each other to make the best beers and to sell the most beers, but I’ve always felt that, for the most part, there’s a real feeling of kinship between many local brewers and breweries.  They don’t just provide a faceless product.  They become part of the greater community and, as such, care about that community.

That’s why you’re constantly seeing local craft breweries hosting events that are geared towards helping out local charities and non profits.  They want to give something back to the community that’s given to them.  Also, let’s face it, as a craft beer consumer it feels good to know you’re helping out by really doing nothing more than enjoying the craft beers you love. What could be better?

Announcing Pike Pride Ale And More From Pike Brewing

As I’m sure you’re already aware, June is Pride Month and there are plenty of events all around Seattle to celebrate and stand up for the LGBTQ community.  Considering the current political climate in our nation, I think that recognizing and celebrating Pride Month is more important that ever.

Pike Brewing Company feels the same way and recently released Pike Pride Ale in celebration of Seattle’s LGBTQ community.  It’s available on tap now at Pike Brewing and Tankard & Tun and will be featured at several locations during Pride Week (June 18-24).

Other news from Pike includes their new Late-Night Hoppy Hour (with food specials from 9 pm to close (menu below)), a new seasonal menu at Tankard & Tun, and the exciting news that Pike has shipped over 600 unique pieces of beer art to Japan’s International Airport in Nagoya in preparation for the opening of a Pike Brewing restaurant and craft beer bar in Nagoya Airport.

Reuben’s Brews Creates 25th Anniversary Beer for Rudy’s Barbershop

At first you wouldn’t think a brewery and a barbershop would have much in common and, for the most part, you’d be right.  However Rudy’s Barbershop and Reuben’s Brews, both founded in Seattle, have similar sensibilities when it comes to community and making their customers feel comfortable and at ease in their establishments.

That’s why Rudy’s has partnered with Reuben’s Brews to create a beer that celebrates their 25th anniversary.  Set for release this coming Saturday, June 9th, Reuben’s well release Good Hair Day Pale Ale.  A portion of the proceeds from Good Hair Day will be donated to Equal Rights Washington to help support LGBTQ rights.

Counterbalance Brewing Issues Executive (Dis)order

In today’s America, it seems virtually impossible to escape the topic of politics.  Everything seems so politically charged these days, especially with the circus going on in Washington D.C.  So why fight it?  Instead how about naming a beer after it?

This past Friday, Counterbalance Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) released Executive (Dis)order Belgian Golden Strong Ale.  This beer does a lot more than just poke fun at politics though, a portion of the proceeds from all taproom sales of Executive (Dis)order will be donated to Legal Voice and their Beer Trumps Hate campaign. They’ve even setup a few events where you can buy a pint to help out – details below.

Naked City Prepares For Their 10th Anniversary

Despite the fact that I just don’t get there often enough, I have a strong affinity for Naked City Brewery & Taphouse.  As I’ve said many times before, Owner and Head Brewer, Don Webb truly loves his work and it shows in the quality of the beers Naked City produces.  Some of my favorites of theirs over the years have included their Big Lebrewski Russian Imperial Stout, Rye Barrel Aged Old 48 Stout, The Can In Black Malt Liquor and Old Proper, their English Style Barleywine.  Not to mention their popular, seasonal triple IPA, Cry Me A River, which you should be seeing again soon as the Hop Mob Triple IPA Roadshow returns next month.

Now, with well over 320 distinct beers under their belt, Naked City is preparing to celebrate their 10th Anniversary with the release of a beer that will be the first in a series of 10 collaboration beers along with a series of 10 concerts for charity.
