Tin Dog Prepares To Release Melange Deux

I’m guessing that most of you don’t get down to Seattle’s South Park neighborhood very often.  Then again, maybe you do.  After all, back in May Loretta’s Northwesterner (quite possibly the best dive bar in all of Seattle) was honored with the title of 4th Best Burger In America from Thrillist.  There are only a few breweries in the South Park area: Burdick, Lowercase and Tin Dog.  Back when they all first opened the South Park bridge was still closed, making launching a brewery there a somewhat risky endeavor.  Despite the challenges though, all 3 South Park breweries still exist and are doing well.  You’ll even find their beers on tap at Loretta’s from time to time.

Tin Dog Brewing is situated in the Cloverdale business park, between Highway 509 and Highway 99 (W Marginal Way South).  They specialize in Belgian styles so you’ll often find a Saison or two on tap, along with a Belgian Dubbel or Tripel and perhaps a Wit or White IPA.

Firestone Walker Releases XXI Anniversary Ale

I’ve been a Washingtonian for nearly 20 years now.  I love the Washington craft beer scene and the plethora of wonderful craft breweries in the state, but some of my favorite breweries are still from California. One such brewery is Firestone Walker Brewing Company out of Paso Robles, CA.

Each year since their 10th Anniversary, Firestone Walker has released a special Anniversary Ale. They hold an annual blending session, with both brewers and winemakers in attendance, in order to craft the perfect blend for each year’s Anniversary Ale offering.  Now, Firestone Walker is preparing to release the latest version: XXI Anniversary Ale.

Two Beers Brewing Prepares For Their 10th Anniversary

With so many breweries in Seattle, it seems like there’s always an anniversary celebration just around the corner (not that I’m complaining or anything!).  Over the past few months I’ve told you about anniversary celebrations from such local breweries as Lucky Envelope, Hellbent, Stoup and Naked City and there’s still more anniversary celebrations to come before the year is out.

Now Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone.  Coming up on Saturday, November 4th, they’ll be celebrating their 10th Anniversary. Rather than celebrating for just one day, however, Two Beers has nearly an entire week of events lined up, culminating with the Grand Celebration on the 4th.

Ground Control Returns From Ninkasi Brewing

This time of year, my taste buds are always in eager anticipation of all the upcoming delightful, dreamy, dark and delicious barrel-aged beers that begin to arrive as our days grow shorter and shorter.  My wallet isn’t always so happy about it (There are a lot of releases to keep up with!), but my taste buds usually win that battle.

We’ve already seen a few barrel-aged releases this season and now Ninkasi Brewing Company is ready to get in on the action with the return of their popular, ‘space yeast’ utilizing, Ground Control Imperial Stout.  This November they’ll be releasing two Bourbon Barrel-Aged versions of this popular brew in 22 oz bottles.  It will also be available on draft in select markets.  You can also get a taste of Ground Control at two special Oregon events: the Ninkasi Space Beer Dinner at OMSI on November 7th and the Space Oddity Ball at the Ninkasi Tasting Room on November 11th.

2017 Old Birdbrain Barleywine Arrives This Weekend From Black Raven

BlackRavenSponsorshipLogo1

Barleywine season is almost here.  The 15th Annual Hard Liver Barleywine Festival is coming up next month at Brouwer’s Cafe and the 15th Annual Barleywine Bacchanal will happen at Beveridge Place Pub in March.  With these and other barleywine festivals on the way, local breweries are working hard to get their 2017 barley wines ready to go.

To that end, Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) is just about ready to release their 2017 Old Birdbrain Barleywine, which has been a multiple award winner at the annual Great Alaskan Beer & Barleywine Festival. This year’s vintage will arrive this coming Friday, Jaunary 27th.

Bravo Is Coming In 12 oz Bottles From Firestone Walker

Firestone Walker Logo

Firestone Walker Brewing Company has been quite busy lately.  They introduced their new Luponic Distortion series of IPAs. They discontinued their Proprietor’s Reserve Series of beers (including: Opal, Double Jack and Wookey Jack), and they recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary including, of course, the release of their XX Anniversary Ale.

Now, Firestone Walker is ready for another first.  All of Firestone Walker’s Vintage Reserve barrel-aged beers will be moving from from 22-ounce bombers to individually boxed 12-ounce bottles. The first beer up for the 12-ounce treatment is Bravo Imperial Brown Ale, which is being bottled for the first time in 12 years.

XX Anniversary Ale Arrives Next Month From Firestone Walker

Firestone Walker Logo

One of my favorite California breweries has hit an amazing milestone.  This year, Firestone Walker Brewing Company celebrates their 20th year.  To help them celebrate, they are, of course, releasing the latest version of their annual anniversary Ale: XX Anniversary Ale.

I’ve been enjoying Firestone Walker’s Anniversary Ales since their XIII Anniversary Ale release back in 2009.  Each release is expertly blended together from a plethora of other Firestone Walker Ales by an entire team of experienced brewers and winemakers, and the blend is different every year.  Some have been more malty and some a bit more boozy, while others have been more on the hoppy side.  I’ve enjoyed them all, but I think their XIV Anniversary Ale may still be one of my favorites.  I’m really looking forward to tasting XX Anniversary Ale.

Firestone Walker Brewing Turns 20

Firestone Walker Logo

There are far too many great breweries out there for me to pick a single favorite.  There are a handful, however, that I would consider my top ranked breweries.  High up on that list is Firestone Walker Brewing Company.  They are masters of barrel fermentation, barrel aging and blending, and I have never had a single beer from them that wasn’t outstanding.

Now, as they prepare to turn 20, they have a whole list of special events planned.  Unfortunately for us here in Washington, most of these events take place down in California so, unless you have the mean to head South for a visit, we’ll have to celebrate vicariously with some delicious Firestone Walker beers.

Firestone Walker Celebrates 20 Years With Nitro DBA

Firestone Walker Brewing Company makes some delicious beers.  Their Parabola is one of my all time favorites and their Double Jack is one of my top (if not my top) IPAs.  Also, in case you weren’t aware, the 2016 release of Stickee Monkee is out now.  Hurry and grab yourself a bottle before it’s all gone.

Another beer from Firestone Walker that is very popular is their flagship DBA (Double Barrel Ale).  They also made a special version called Double DBA for a couple of years, but it has since been discontinued.  Now, Firestone Walker is ready to bring us another DBA variant.  This week, they are launching Nitro DBA as a new year round draft offering in all Firestone Walker markets, including Seattle.

Also, to help celebrate their 20th Anniversary this year, Firestone is releasing Unfiltered DBA (UDBA), a 100-percent oak fermented and unfiltered version of DBA, which will be available in all Firestone Walker markets for a limited time.  Get it while you can.

Old Birdbrain Returns From Black Raven Brewing

OldBirdbrain2016

Barleywine season usually happens close to the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring.  However, there is no reason a barleywine must be released around that time.  Anytime is a good time for a great barleywine, and Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) has brought back a multiple award winner.

Just this past Saturday, June 4th Black Raven released the 2016 Vintage of Old Birdbrain Barleywine.  Sorry I didn’t tell you about the release before the 4th, but I was out of town and didn’t have access to a computer while I was away.
