Lucky Envelope Brewing Prepares To Celebrate Chinese New Year

Living in the South end and working the early hours I do, I don’t get to Ballard as often as I’d like.  Thankfully, I can usually find at least some beers from a few of my favorite Ballard area breweries either on tap at some good, local craft beer bars or in bottles or cans.

One of the breweries I try to visit when I do manage to get to Ballard is Lucky Envelope Brewing Company.  I enjoy their IPAs and a few of their more unusual offerings.  Now, Lucky Envelope is preparing to release five specialty beers in celebration of Chinese New Year – Year of the Earth Dog.   Continue reading

Payette Brewing Releases A New Year-Round Sour

I first told you about Payette Brewing Company back in February of 2016.  Their beers were just arriving in Washington State, including their Rustler IPA, North Fork Lager, and Rodeo Rye Pale (Spring seasonal).

Now, Payette is preparing to release their next year-round offering: Aura Guava & Hibiscus Sour Ale.  Payette has been putting out sours in 22 oz bottles for a while, and Aura Guava & Hibiscus was the standout from their rotating 22 oz sour series.  It became popular enough that canning seemed to be the next logical step.

La Mort Rouge Returns From Black Raven Brewing

I recently attended the 9th annual Belgian Fest at Seattle Center.  I’m a big fan of well-made Belgian style beers and Belgian Fest offers some of the very best Belgian beers made by breweries in Washington State.  This year’s event featured well over 40+ Washington breweries, each pouring their very best Belgian Ales.

With so many breweries pouring so many different Belgian Ales, you’d think there would be no reason to go back for a 2nd sample of anything, in the interests of trying as many different beers as possible.  You’d be right to think this way but that’s now how things always work out.  The goal of trying every single beer offered at a festival is noble but usually unrealistic.  Believe me.  I’ve tried.  These days, if I find a beer at a festival that I truly enjoy, I’ll definitely go back for more.

Ninkasi Releases Spring IPA Variety Pack

There’s no doubt that, in the craft beer World, the IPA is king.  We’ve got regular IPAs, double IPAs, Red IPAs, fruity and juicy IPAs and just about every other type of IPA you could imagine.  The IPA ‘style’ category could probably use a bit of updating to keep up with all the sub-styles emerging.

Tin Dog Brewing Prepares For Their 4th Anniversary

Have you ever been down to Tin Dog Brewing Company in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood?  Sure, they’re a bit out of the way if you don’t live in the South end, but they’ve been quietly operating out of their space on Cloverdale St. for nearly 4 years now.

Tin Dog recently released their third French Oak Wine Barrel Aged Wild Blend Bottle: Mandala Blended Wild Ale, which has been dry-hopped with Mosaic giving it tropical notes.  You can find it at the brewery and at several local craft bottle shops, including Chuck’s Hop Shop locations and Full Throttle Bottles in Georgetown.  Now, they’re preparing to celebrate their 4th Anniversary.

Belltown Brewing Announces Three New Beers

Belltown Brewing Company has been pretty busy since opening their doors.  Having received their on-site brewery license just this past October, Head Brewer, Adam Frantz, got busy right away creating new beers including: Bellfounder Pumpkin Porter, Belltown Coffee Brown, Bell St Whete Raspberry and their Harvest Lager. Their popular Speakeasy IPA has also been incredibly successful on tap at the Showbox Market and SODO, and Adam has been honored with the 2018 Glen Hay Falconer Foundation Scholarship. More on that below.

Next, Belltown announced an ambitious plan in conjunction with Schooner Exact Brewing Company to create a new, limited-series collaboration brewery named SODO Brewing, whose early offerings will include two IPAs, a Lager, and a Stout.  Even with all of that going on, Adam has still found the time to create three new beers: Renegade IPA, Chain Bite Black IPA and Mocha Stout.

Worthy Brewing Announces Two IPAs And Reveals Their 2018 Release Calendar

Despite the wide range of styles available to craft beer drinkers, it’s impossible to deny that the IPA is still king.  In fact, just last year, the Brewer’s Association‘s annual craft sales figures showed that at least one out of every five craft beers sold in the U.S. is an IPA.  Even though I try to vary the styles I drink as much as possible, I’m definitely a big IPA fan too as are most other craft beer drinkers I know.

That popularity doesn’t seem to be slowing down either.  In fact, it almost seems to be expanding.  Even with the incredible influx of new IPAs that are constantly hitting the market these days, most manage to find their audience and sell out, making way for the next IPA(s) coming down the pipe. I say, keep ’em coming.

Fort George Stout Month 2018 Is Almost Here

One of the best things about the cold, dark days of Winter are all of the dark, delicious Stouts that come along with it.  Sure, you can drink a good Stout anytime, but Fall and especially Winter are when our palates seem to turn more towards the dark side and crave all those deep, rich, coffee/chocolate/roasty and often barrel-aged flavors that a good Stout provides.

February is Stout Month and Fort George Brewery is ready to celebrate with a full month of events and beer releases.  Don’t worry if you can’t make it down to Oregon for some of the Traveling Carnival Of Stouts events.  They’ve planned 5 events for Washington Fort George fans as well.

Counterbalance Brewing Prepares For Their 3rd Anniversary

Apparently, it’s anniversary season yet again in Seattle.  Lowercase Brewing celebrated their 4th anniversary just this past weekend, Naked City has their 10th anniversary coming up this week, and The Shambles, which opened just this past weekend, will celebrate their 1st anniversary one year from now.
