Pyramid Brewing Reveals New Brand Experience And Brewing Philosophy

SEATTLE (April 17, 2017) – Pyramid Brewing Co. today debuted an invigorated brand aesthetic and experience encompassing an expanded line of canned brews, the addition of Outburst Citrus IPA to Pyramid’s year-round line-up, all-new packaging and revamped digital channels across its website and social media.

The new branding for each beer is pictographic and shares the story of its ingredients by paying homage to iconic Pacific Northwest (PNW) sceneries with a bold color aesthetic. For example, Outburst Imperial IPA’s new label art celebrates the iconic Mt. St. Helens near the brewery’s founding home in Kalama, Wash. and Hefeweizen celebrates classic Pacific Northwest scenery of a tree-lined mountain lake. The bottom of 6-pack carriers will have a call-out to fans to share their adventures with Pyramid. Whether exploring mountain lakes and coastal beaches, walking orchards in Hood River County Fruit Loop, smelling the aroma of hop fields in Yakima and Willamette Valleys, or sipping brews at Pyramid Alehouse before a baseball game, these scenes honor the region’s beautiful surroundings and represent Pyramid’s brand ideals of adventure, curiosity and discovery.

Safeco Field Menu Updates For The 2017 Mariners Season

Spring has finally arrived in the Northwest and that means, of course, the return of baseball.  For the past few years, I’ve kept you up to date on what delicious craft beers and gourmet food choices you can expect to find each Seattle Mariners season at Safeco Field.

Well, it’s that time again and I’ve been invited back to check out some new offerings for this year’s menu. Ethan Stowell has, once again, partnered with Centerplate and the Seattle Mariners to bring you some amazing creations including: Seattle ‘Wings’ (Taylor Shellfish Farms fried oysters with Frank’s RedHot sauce), authentic Oaxacan chapulines (toasted grasshoppers with chile-lime salt seasoning), and frozen custard cookie sandwiches.

Sumerian Brewing Prepares For Their 2nd Anniversary And Starts Canning

Sumerian Brewing Company has a lot on their plate right now.  They continue to add new accounts, so you can now find their beers at 9 Costco locations, Xfinity Arena, 7-11, Haggen stores and Safeway stores, in addition to your local craft bottle shop.  They’ve also worked to get their beers onto Washington State ferries and will also be one of several local craft beer choices available at Safeco Field for the coming 2017 Seattle Mariners season (watch for a Mariners 2017 Season Food & Drink preview coming in early April).

In addition, Sumerian is preparing for their 2nd Anniversary celebration and have also started to release their first canned beers thanks to their new canning line.  The first of their beers up in cans will be Hopruption – formerly known as Eruption Double IPA.

Pike No. 4 Session IPA Is Here For The Summer

PikeALSNo4

Most craft beer drinkers I know enjoy a good IPA or double IPA, and lord knows we have an abundance of great IPAs to choose from, especially here in the Northwest.  Trying to find a brewery or craft beer bar around here without an IPA on tap would be an exercise in futility.

Now, with those long Summer evenings upon us, it feels like we have a few more hours in the day to enjoy all those IPAs.  The problem is, too many strong single or double IPAs and you’ll go down long before the Sun does.  The solution, of course, is the Session IPA.  Session IPAs are designed to be hoppy on the palate but are lower in alcohol, allowing you to enjoy a few more without feeling like it’s time for bed.

Pike Brewing Company understand this so, back for the Summer is their Seasonal release: Pike No. 4 Session IPA.  This light and refreshing IPA comes in at just 4.2% ABV, meaning you can throw back a few more while enjoying the game or tossing some meat on the grill, and still be the life of the party.

The 2016 Mariners Season Food & Drink Preview At Safeco Field

20160330_121203

Yesterday afternoon I attended this year’s food and drink preview for the 2016 Seattle Mariners‘ Season at Safeco Field, courtesy of the Seattle Mariners, Centerplate and Ethan Stowell Restaurants.  Over the past few years, watching baseball at the Safe has become synonymous with enjoying delicious food and what is probably the best beer selection found in any major league ball park in the nation.  I have for you the complete list of beers available this year (including the first ever Sour beer to be served in any major league ball park), and where you’ll be able to find them around the stadium.

I’ll also fill you in on this year’s food offerings, which did not disappoint.  Whether you’re hungry for sandwiches, sausages, wings or more, you’ll find something delicious to enjoy while cheering on the M’s this season.  My favorite was probably the Porchetta sandwich.  I’ll go over each food item for you to whet your appetite.

Gourmet Sandwiches Highlight Safeco Field’s 2016 Menu Updates

MarinersCenterplateStowell

Last year at about this time, I attended a food and drink preview at Safeco Field for the 2015 Seattle Mariners season.  It was an impressive spread with a wide variety of options like crab sandwiches, burgers, gourmet hot dogs, flatbread pizzas and more, plus a wide array of locally sourced craft beers, wines and even high end cocktails.

Well, I’ve been invited back again this year for the 2016 food and drink preview, and I’m eager to see what delicious new items and what new and returning craft beers and other drinks I’ll find available for this season.  One thing is for sure, a big feature of the 2016 menu will be gourmet sandwiches, using high end ingredients like Beecher’s Cheese, Hempler’s Bacon and Baker Boys Northwest Brioche Bread.  I love a good sandwich, so that sounds pretty good to me.

Counterbalance Brewing Company hasn’t been around for too long.  They first opened their doors just this past February in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood and have been growing in popularity ever since.  I need to visit a bit more often but, so far, I’m a big fan of their Bad Wolf Dark Ale in particular and their Kushetka Russian Imperial Stout.

I recently featured Counterbalance Brewing (along with several of their neighbors) in a piece about visiting Seattle’s South End breweries.  Now, with October upon us, you have even more reasons to come visit Counterbalance.  They have several events lined up throughout the month, starting with today’s release of their Tabletop Supernova Imperial IPA.  Also, coming up soon is their Mariners/Sounders Doubleheader, which I told you about back in August.

Next Thursday Is Brewery Night At Safeco Field

image003

Seattle definitely knows its craft beer.  That’s an indisputable truth.  On many national lists of where to find the best craft beer, Seattle sometimes gets overlooked for our friends to the South in Portland but, when it comes to craft beer selection at MLB stadiums, Safeco Field is tough to beat.

Last year, they were ranked right at the top among several lists of the best stadiums for craft beer in the nation and the list of great beers available at the Safe continues to grow.  According to The Daily Meal: “The ballpark is actually known nationally for its reputation as a good place to watch baseball and drink good beer. They feature both locals and national breweries — and there’s a long list of them.”

Food And Drink Preview For The 2015 Mariners Season At Safeco Field

IMG_2055

Today I was invited to join a group of several other local journalists down at Safeco Field for an in-depth preview of the new food and drink options that will be available for the 2015 Seattle Mariners season.  With the home opener coming up in just five days, this was a great opportunity to get a sneak peek at all the new high-end food and drink options that Mariners fans will have the opportunity to enjoy at the Safe this year.

Last year’s offerings included delicious choices like Apple Wood Smoked Salmon Chowder, ‘Dirty’ Tots With Beecher’s Flagship Cheddar, Carlton Farms Pork Belly & Bay Valley Picked Peppers, and Fish & Chips With Manny’s Pale Ale Batter among other selections; plus cask beers from local Northwest breweries like Georgetown Brewing CompanyOakshire Brewing Company and others.

This year I was eager to return and try some of the new choices chef Ethan Stowell and his team had come up with, and to sample a few of the new craft beer choices available this season.  The featured brewery at Safeco this season is Seattle’s own Pike Brewing Company, but you’ll also find options from other local breweries like Black Raven Brewing (CBM Sponsor), Schooner Exact BrewingFremont Brewing and many more.
