Tin Dog Brewing Brings Home The Gold (And The Silver And The Bronze)

On February 10th of this year, a small brewery in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood – one some of you may not have heard of before – celebrated their latest anniversary.  That brewery is Tin Dog Brewing Company and they’ve bee operating quietly on the other side of the Duwamish since February 2014.

Specializing in Belgian-style beers, including sour/wild beers and aged, blended/mixed cluture styles, Tin Dog has been honing their craft, and their work has paid off.  I’d like to offer my congratulations to Tin Dog Brewing Company for taking home Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in this year’s wild sour beer category at the Washington Beer Awards and Brewer’s Choice Awards, taking home Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Reuben’s Brews Hits A Community Donations Milestone

I love the craft beer community – especially here in the Northwest.  It goes well beyond just beer.  Sure, different breweries are in competition with each other to make the best beers and to sell the most beers, but I’ve always felt that, for the most part, there’s a real feeling of kinship between many local brewers and breweries.  They don’t just provide a faceless product.  They become part of the greater community and, as such, care about that community.

That’s why you’re constantly seeing local craft breweries hosting events that are geared towards helping out local charities and non profits.  They want to give something back to the community that’s given to them.  Also, let’s face it, as a craft beer consumer it feels good to know you’re helping out by really doing nothing more than enjoying the craft beers you love. What could be better?

Firestone Walker Hits Milestone With 10th Luponic Distortion Release

Back in Spring of 2016, Firestone Walker Brewing Company launched a new series of experimental IPAs under the name Luponic Distortion. Each one has been different. I’ve enjoyed some more than others, but each offering in the series is distinct and unique.

Now, two years later, Firestone has reached a milestone. They’re releasing Luponic Distortion No. 10.  This version uses 7 different hops from 3 continents and, according to Firestone, has a variety of fruity aromas and flavors. Perfect for Summer.  No. 10 also marks a change in the look of the Luponic Distortion cans.  You can see the new look below.

Pyramid Brewing Announces Coast Day Dry-Hop Hazy Lager

Are you a seasonal craft beer drinker?  In other words, do you find that the style(s) of craft beers you crave tend to change with the seasons?  If so, you’re not alone.  Fall, for example, often makes us crave beers like Ambers, Bocks and Fest-style beers (like Oktoberfest). Winter has many people seeking out thick, strong Stouts and Porters.  When Summer arrives though, most people like something a bit lighter on the palate.

Pyramid Brewing Company understands how your tastes can change with the seasons, but they also know that there are craft beer drinkers out there (like myself) who can enjoy any style just about any time of year.  That’s why Pyramid’s new Coast Day Dry-Hop Hazy Lager is being released for Summer, but will be available year-round.

Announcing Pike Pride Ale And More From Pike Brewing

As I’m sure you’re already aware, June is Pride Month and there are plenty of events all around Seattle to celebrate and stand up for the LGBTQ community.  Considering the current political climate in our nation, I think that recognizing and celebrating Pride Month is more important that ever.

Pike Brewing Company feels the same way and recently released Pike Pride Ale in celebration of Seattle’s LGBTQ community.  It’s available on tap now at Pike Brewing and Tankard & Tun and will be featured at several locations during Pride Week (June 18-24).

Other news from Pike includes their new Late-Night Hoppy Hour (with food specials from 9 pm to close (menu below)), a new seasonal menu at Tankard & Tun, and the exciting news that Pike has shipped over 600 unique pieces of beer art to Japan’s International Airport in Nagoya in preparation for the opening of a Pike Brewing restaurant and craft beer bar in Nagoya Airport.

Reuben’s Brews Creates 25th Anniversary Beer for Rudy’s Barbershop

At first you wouldn’t think a brewery and a barbershop would have much in common and, for the most part, you’d be right.  However Rudy’s Barbershop and Reuben’s Brews, both founded in Seattle, have similar sensibilities when it comes to community and making their customers feel comfortable and at ease in their establishments.

That’s why Rudy’s has partnered with Reuben’s Brews to create a beer that celebrates their 25th anniversary.  Set for release this coming Saturday, June 9th, Reuben’s well release Good Hair Day Pale Ale.  A portion of the proceeds from Good Hair Day will be donated to Equal Rights Washington to help support LGBTQ rights.

Counterbalance Brewing Issues Executive (Dis)order

In today’s America, it seems virtually impossible to escape the topic of politics.  Everything seems so politically charged these days, especially with the circus going on in Washington D.C.  So why fight it?  Instead how about naming a beer after it?

This past Friday, Counterbalance Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) released Executive (Dis)order Belgian Golden Strong Ale.  This beer does a lot more than just poke fun at politics though, a portion of the proceeds from all taproom sales of Executive (Dis)order will be donated to Legal Voice and their Beer Trumps Hate campaign. They’ve even setup a few events where you can buy a pint to help out – details below.

It’s bright outside. Summer is almost here and you need a little shade. Heading out for a beer but forgot your sunglasses? Then you’ll need something dark to hold up and block those rays – but you probably still want something hoppy. After all, for most of us, Stout season is just about over.

A nice, hoppy, Black IPA would do the trick, right? Well, Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) has you covered. Later today (6/1) they’re prepared to release a new Black IPA, and they had a little help with this one from a local homebrewer.  Say hello to Beak & Claw Black IPA.
