It’s bright outside. Summer is almost here and you need a little shade. Heading out for a beer but forgot your sunglasses? Then you’ll need something dark to hold up and block those rays – but you probably still want something hoppy. After all, for most of us, Stout season is just about over.
A nice, hoppy, Black IPA would do the trick, right? Well, Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) has you covered. Later today (6/1) they’re prepared to release a new Black IPA, and they had a little help with this one from a local homebrewer. Say hello to Beak & Claw Black IPA.
Here is some more information about this release from Black Raven Brewing Company:
PRO-AM COLLABORATION BREW
BEAK & CLAW
This dark wheat IPA throws off heaps of citrus aroma with the crispness of pine from fresh spruce tips added to the boil. Centennial, Simcoe, and Cascade hops compliment the flavors of the spruce tips, and the light roasted malts.
Brewed in conjunction with local homebrewer John Hocking.
LIMITED RELEASE – TAPROOM DRAFT AND GROWLERS
I’m a big fan of spruce tip IPAs. Sure, I enjoy many of the hazy, juicy, New England style IPAs we’ve been flooded with recently but, sometimes, I long for an IPA with a more Earthy, piney character, and you can’t get much more piney than spruce tips. It also doesn’t hurt that Simcoe and Cascade are two of my favorite hops. I guess I’ll have to get myself over to Black Raven soon since, as noted above, this release will be available only on draft and only in The Raven’s Nest (Black Raven’s taproom in Redmond). Also, congratulations to John Hocking.
Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
