Bottle releases have become a pretty big deal in the Seattle area. It feels like just about every other weekend, there’s a new release (or several) coming out at one local craft brewery or another. Fremont Brewing Company has definitely had their share of sought after releases, including their recent release of The Ancient One series (Dark Star & B-Bomb versions). I heard the line for those bottles started as early as 4:30 am.
Your possible adverse feelings about standing in line for a beer release notwithstanding, the time has come to let you know that Fremont Brewing will be releasing the 2016 Version of B-Bomb in just over one week on “B-Bomb Friday”, November 25th.

Fremont is excited to announce this year’s release of B-Bomb, their annual bourbon barrel-aged winter ale! B-Bomb, formerly known as Bourbon Abominable, will be released in their Urban Beer Garden on “B-Bomb Friday”, November 25th! B-Bomb will be on-tap and available to-go in 22oz bottles at 11am. At 5pm, the legendary Yeti will join the party to help Fremont tap three release-party-only B-Bomb infusions! B-Bomb bottles are $20 each with a four bottle limit per person.
Distribution will follow after the event and will include Fremont’s entire network of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and the Denver Metro Area.
Style: Bourbon Barrel Aged Winter Ale
Description: This year’s release of B-Bomb is aged in 12 & 15 year-old American Oak whiskey barrels and is a blend of 24 and 12-month old barrel strength Winter Ale. B-Bomb achieves distinct bourbon, oak, cacao, leather, and dark coffee notes from its extended barrel aging and barrel blending. Each barrel contributes a different note, and combining each barrel to create a coherent tone is a distinct art and true pleasure. Please do enjoy this unique barrel-aged ale today, but know that B-Bomb will age gracefully for at least another 5 years. Don’t Be Afraid to Be Abominable.

For those of you out there who may not know, B-Bomb‘s former and formal name (as noted above) was “Bourbon Abominable”, which was affectionately referred to as “B-Bomb” by it’s fans. However, as you may be aware, Hopworks Urban Brewery in Portland also has a beer named Abominable (and used the name first), so Fremont Brewing agreed to change the name.
I’m looking forward to getting my hands on a few bottles of this year’s B-Bomb, as well as the Coffee Cinnamon variant when it arrives. I’m building a 3-year vertical of each, and I’m looking forward to having a tasting sometime this Winter. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make the brewery release this year, so I’ll miss the release-day-only infusions, but I’m looking forward to enjoying a bottle.
