Back in March of this year, I told you about some coming changes for Airways Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor). Since opening six years ago on 196th Street in Kent (and the opening of Airways Brewing Beer & Bistro one year later), they’ve continued to grow, pushing the limits of their current brewery space. The time had come to expand.
Well, Airways has been working on that expansion as well as re-branding themselves with a new logo which debuted earlier today, and now they’re ready to share some more details about the new space, their expanded hours and the grand opening date for the new brewery.
Here is the full press release from Airways Brewing Company:
KENT, Wash. (May 26, 2016) –Airways announces new branding, and an update on the relocation of their Kent-based brewery and tap room.
Airways New Look
“Over the past 6 years, a lot has changed. As we get ready to move the brewery and expand production, we’ve spent some time reflecting on where we want to go, and what makes Airways unique in a region that loves airplanes and beer,” said Alex Dittmar, founder and head brewer at Airways Brewing Company.
“The new logo, which you’ll start to see today, reflects our passion for the glamorous era of airline travel. While the airplanes are of course a huge part of that, we also wanted to capture the spirit of the people in the industry. These were innovators in an age before computers, and hard-working crews that worked long hours to make flying a luxury. The new logo pays tribute to their stories and the enduring friendships that have been passed on to us at Airways.”
New Tap Room Location and Expanded Hours Starting June 14th
Construction on the new, 9,000 square foot space, located at 8611 S 212th St. Kent WA, 98031, started in March and is expected to be ready to produce beer in July. This new location will replace the original brewery and tap room and will allow for up to a fourfold increase in production, as well as an increase in tap room seating capacity.
The original location, on West Valley Hwy and 196th, will be open to the public through Friday, June 10th. The Tap Room will re-open with a soft launch at the new location at 2 pm on June 14th with expanded hours:
Tuesday: 2 pm–9 pm
Wednesday: 2 pm–9 pm
Thursday: 2 pm–9 pm
Friday: 2 pm–10 pm
Saturday: 2 pm–8 pm
Pints, tasters, growler fills, and packaged products will be available. Guests are able to bring in food from surrounding restaurants, and well behaved dogs are welcome. Please note that this is a 21+ facility.

Airways Brewing has pushed back the date for the debut of their new brewery and taproom to Tuesday, June 21st in order allow more time for inspections.
This is a great milestone for Airways Brewing, who also just celebrated their 6th Anniversary. I’ve been following their progress towards this move and I’m really looking forward to checking out the new space. I’ve seen some photos of the construction, but it’s difficult from those to get a sense of just how the finished product will look. So it will be nice to finally head down for a visit to the new space when they open in June. I’d also like to extend my personal congratulations to Alex & Dione Dittmar. It’s been a long road for them to get here, but I know it will all be worth it.
Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
