Sorry for starting this post a bit off topic, but I’d like to apologize to my readers for the extended period of no new articles. I was on vacation around Thanksgiving, but then I wound up getting sick after that and I’m still struggling to return to the land of the living. Unfortunately, that means I missed a couple of really great events, including the Winter Beer Festival last weekend at Magnuson Park and Hale-Finkel-Kemper at Beveridge Place Pub on the 82nd Anniversary of the repeal of prohibition. Heck, I was so under the weather, I wasn’t even able to celebrate repeal day with a beer.
Thankfully, there are always more great craft beer events around the Sound and another one is coming up this Thursday, December 10th. On that date, Beveridge Place Pub will celebrate their 12th Anniversary. This might be confusing to some, since Beveridge Place celebrated their 11th Anniversary way back in 2012, but there is an explanation. Beveridge Place took over the old Full Moon Saloon in 2001, but didn’t take the name Beveridge Place Pub until 2003.
As Beveridge Place Pub explains it:
We celebrate all sorts of anniversaries around here, this one commemorates the year we went from being the Full Moon Saloon to Beveridge Place Pub in 2003! We’ll tap all sorts of special brews and pull some big-ass bottles out of the cellar for toasting at 5pm and 8pm, including a 6 liter bottle of La Fin du Monde courtesy of our friend Larry Rock!
That’s one big bottle of La Fin du Monde. It reminds me of the giant bottle of Duvel Beveridge Place popped for their 11th Anniversary celebration in 2012 (see photo above). They certainly know how to put a great party. In fact, Beveridge Place has some type of event going on every single Thursday, all year long. Be sure to check the events page on their website, which they update regularly.
Also, to celebrate 12 great years as ‘Beveridge Place Pub’, they’ll have 12 rare draft beers on tap and other big bottles will be uncorked beyond just the giant La Fin du Monde. It’s an event you won’t want to miss.
Here is the list of 12 special rare beers that will be tapped for the celebration:
- Black Raven Corvus Frambicus
- De Proef Sour Barrel #2
- Elgood’s Coolship Sour #4
- Engine House #9 Holy Diver Cab Barrel Belgian Strong
- Flyers F-10 Anniversary CDA
- Foggy Noggin Anniversary Old Ale
- Georgetown Rye Tombourbon
- Lompoc Cimmerian Port Barrel Belgian Dark
- Naked City Big Lebrewski White Russian Imperial Stout
- Oud Beersel Framboise
- Perennial Stefon ’14 Dark Rye Brett Farmhouse
- Three Magnets Anniversary Barrel Blend
An impressive list to be sure. If you’ve never been to Beveridge Place Pub before, you’re denying yourself one of Seattle’s truly great craft beer bars. Brave that sometimes brutal West Seattle Bridge traffic and check them out. If you have been there, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. I hope to see you there this Thursday.
Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
