Back in January of 2014, Foggy Noggin Brewing Company introduced a new beer to honor the Seattle Seahwaks return to the Superbowl. They named their beer “12th Man Skittles IPA” and, as you might expect, were immediately contacted by Texas A&M University due to the use of “12th Man” in the beer’s name. I’m guessing Mars, Inc. (owner of Skittles) wasn’t too thrilled over the name either. So, in order to avoid any legal issues, Foggy Noggin cleverly renamed the beer “Cease & Desist IPA.”
Now, as the Seahawks prepare for their 2015 regular season opener against the St. Louis Rams, Cease & Desist IPA is back to help you quench your Fn game day thirst as you cheer on the Hawks.
Here is some more information about this beer from Foggy Noggin Brewing Company:
It’s Back! Cease & Desist IPA Returns for Seahawks Season! The beer that created all the excitement during the Seahawks Back-to-Back Super Bowl runs, is back for the 2015 season. We can’t call it 12th Man Skittles IPA, due to a Cease & Desist order we received from Texas A&M University (see links to stories below).
What I can say is, this beer helped the Seahawks win the 2014 Super Bowl and got them to the 1 yard line to almost win the 2015 Super Bowl.
Each week of the season, we are holding a lottery with our tap accounts to see who will get the chance to have this beer on tap for the game.
On Saturday – Sept 12th – you can get pints on this beer in the Foggy Noggin Brewing tasting room (noon-5pm) and growler fills to take home for the big game (while supply lasts).
It’s only stupid if you don’t Fn try it!
Where you’ll find Cease & Desist on tap for each game will depend, as noted above, on a weekly lottery Foggy Noggin holds with all of their tap accounts. For the Rams game on the 13th, you’ll find it on tap at The Beer Junction in West Seattle and at The Copper Hog in Bellingham.
So raise a pint of Cease & Desist this Sunday and cheer the Seahawks on their road to another Super Bowl! I’m just writing this so I don’t get fined…
Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
