The 2014 Fremont Solstice Parade is this weekend. This annual expression of eclectic individuality is a celebration of creativity and a welcoming of Summer, however short it may be, to Seattle. Will you be taking part in this year’s parade; perhaps stripping down, covering yourself in body paint and riding your bicycle along the parade route? Don’t worry; I won’t be participating. You don’t want to see that. I’m too full of good beer and good food.
Whether you decide to participate in the parade or just observe it, parade day is going to be nice and sunny, so you’ll want to cool down with a cold beer after the parade passes by. The Sixgill knows that, which is why they will be providing the Official Beer Garden for this year’s Solstice Parade.
Here’s a bit more information from The Sixgill:
Just a reminder that The Sixgill, in conjunction with the Fremont Arts Council, is hosting the Official Beer Garden of the Fremont Solstice Parade this weekend! We’re taking over the whole back parking lot for a big blowout. A significant portion of our proceeds will benefit the FAC and their ongoing organization of the Parade and promotion of the arts. Another awesome part about our beer garden is that we’ll be serving cool stuff:
Double Mountain Vaporizer Pale, North Coast Scrimshaw Pilsner, Pfriem Wit, American Breakaway IPA and Anthem Cider as well as special Solstice Cocktails and House Made Sausages.
Garden hours are Friday, 4pm – Midnight and Saturday, Noon – Midnight. Attendees also ought to be able to hear the whole concert series on Friday and Sat nights from our location, so that’s a cool bonus.
When that beating Summer sun and absolutely scorching Seattle temperatures expected this weekend get to be too much for you (temps should be at least well into the low 70’s!) , stroll on over to The Sixgill and relax out on in the beer garden with a delicious craft beer and some of the better bar food I’ve found in Seattle. The menu at the Sixgill isn’t just your standard pub fare, and it’s always changing.
You’ll find several tasty and creative choices on their current menu, such as:
- Island Style Ribs (St. Louis pork ribs, pineapple-soy glaze, sesame seeds $9)
- Charred Zucchini (Zucchini, sherry vinegar, parsley, smoked gouda and hazelnut butter $8)
- Carlton Farms Pork Schnitzel (Breaded and pan fried pork loin, mustard potato salad, caramelized lemon $12)
- Soft Shell Crab Sandwich (Cornmeal crusted, pan fried soft shell crab, tomato jam, lemon-caper aioli, salad Sixgill $14)
- And much more
If you’ve never been to The Sixgill, this is your perfect excuse to check them out. If you have, then you know they’re worth another visit. Enjoy the parade and welcome Summer!
Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
