Summer is finally here, though the bit of rain we may get the next couple of days will be sure to remind you that you’re still in Seattle. Summer means it’s time to enjoy more craft beers outdoors. Naked City Brewery & Taphouse made that a bit easier this past year, with the addition of the Walrus Beer Garden: Naked City’s large, welcoming outdoor patio space. It’s a great place to enjoy a few pints on a nice afternoon or to, perhaps, hold a beer festival.
To that end, Naked City has teamed up with Northwest Beer Guide to host Session Fest – back after a 1 year hiatus. Billed as Seattle’s only ‘light beer’ festival, there will be selections from over 25 different breweries from Washington, Oregon, California and Montana.
The 2014 Fremont Solstice Parade is this weekend. This annual expression of eclectic individuality is a celebration of creativity and a welcoming of Summer, however short it may be, to Seattle. Will you be taking part in this year’s parade; perhaps stripping down, covering yourself in body paint and riding your bicycle along the parade route? Don’t worry; I won’t be participating. You don’t want to see that. I’m too full of good beer and good food.
Whether you decide to participate in the parade or just observe it, parade day is going to be nice and sunny, so you’ll want to cool down with a cold beer after the parade passes by. The Sixgill knows that, which is why they will be providing the Official Beer Garden for this year’s Solstice Parade.
When you go to a convenience store, what do you expect to find? Chips, sodas, bottled water, cigarettes, beef jerky, candy bars, a few lotto tickets, etc., right? Y’know, the usual stuff. Well, what if there was a convenience store where you could not only get all of those things but also grab some lunch, throw back a few pints and perhaps even pick up a few bottles of your favorite craft beer and a fine cigar or two to take home? Now there is.
Listen up all you hopheads out there. Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor), who always manages to put a smile on your face with their Trickster IPA and Wisdom Seeker Double IPA, is bringing back a beer that will make that smile on your face even wider.
Birdserker, Black Raven’s delicious and popular Triple IPA, is making its return this coming Tuesday, June 17th, at Black Raven Brewing in Redmond.
This is a limited release, and will be available only at The Raven’s Nest taproom*. There will be no bottles and no growler fills will be allowed. So, if you want to taste this amazing beer, you’ll have to get your butt out to Redmond to do it.
Odin Brewing Company set up shop about 5 years ago in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood (I’m talking about the brewery itself, not Odin’s Asgard Tavern in Fremont), adhering to the philosophy of brewing beers that would pair great with different foods.
From Odin Brewing:
The Odin Brewing journey begins here. Designing and crafting beers worthy of your dinner table. Beer that will complement your foods, rather than do battle against them. Beer designed for the myriad of culinary options we are blessed with in the Pacific Northwest. Great beer designed with great food in mind!
Since opening, they’ve been quite successful with that philosophy and have been growing rapidly. So much so that they’re running out of space in their current facility. As a result, Odin Brewing Company is now in the process of moving the brewery to a new, 15,000 square foot facility in Tukwila, right by Southcenter Mall and adding a tasting room at the brewery.
Summer is almost here, and that means it’s time for the return of Food Truck Fridays (and now Saturdays) down at The Woods – the shared tasting room for Two Beers Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor) and Seattle Cider Company. Starting today, Friday, June 13th, and running through Saturday, September 27th, a different food truck will be at The Woods each Friday and Saturday, so you can grab some food while you’re enjoying a few beers or ciders inside the taproom or out on the patio.
There’ll be something for everyone including: BBQ, Crepes, Tacos/Mexican, Falafel, Lumpia and much, much more. So check the schedule below and find out on which Friday/Saturday you’ll be able to find your favorite food truck down at The Woods.
The 2014 Washington Brewer’s Festival is coming up this weekend (June 13-15) at Marymoor Park. It’s a great place to bring Dad for Father’s Day and have the opportunity to taste more than 300 different beers from nearly 90 different Washington State breweries. It’s also one of only two places you’ll be able to taste the new Session Whiskey Ginger from Black Raven Brewing Company (CBM Sponsor).
Want some Session Whiskey Ginger but you can’t make it to the Washington Brewer’s Festival or just aren’t interested in going? No problem, the one other place you’ll be able to wrap your lips around some of this special brew is at The Raven’s Nest – Black Raven’s brewery taproom in Redmond. It will start pouring in the taproom when they open on Saturday, June 14th a noon. But who knows, they may feel generous and start pouring some on Friday.
