Fall has arrived in the Great Northwest with a vengeance. We’ve got colder temperatures, abundant rain and bitter wind; but it’s not all bad news. The arrival of Fall also brings Elysian Brewing‘s annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival. Its the biggest annual celebration of pumpkin beer around and has grown into one of the largest Fall events in the Northwest.
This will be the 9th Annual Great Pumpkin Beer Festival Elysian has hosted, and it just keeps getting bigger every year. At this year’s festival, you’ll find over 64 different pumpkin beers all pouring at once (full list below) and you can expect to see the largest ‘Great Pumpkins’ in the history of this illustrious festival. We’re talking HUGE!
I hope you have your tickets for this year’s Great Pumpkin Beer Festival (GPBF) already, because the Friday & Saturday sessions are totally sold out and the Sunday session has only a few tickets left. Also, here are two important announcements from Elysian Brewing regarding this year’s festival:
#1– BAG CHECKS:
This year, we will be doing basic bag checks at the entrance, so please leave your backpacks at home. Purses are fine – just keep in mind, the less you bring, the faster you get to the pumpkin beer.
#2– SMALL TICKET TYPO:
Also, we had a small typo on some of the physical tickets that were printed and bought in our pubs, they stated the Saturday and Sunday event start times incorrectly (12AM instead of 12PM).
Please heed these warnings from Elysian and, 1: Don’t bring any huge bags with you. It will just be a hassle and cause delays for everyone. Also, 2: don’t show up at midnight folks! You’ll be lonely and have a long wait to get in.
You’ll also find a greater variety of beers than ever before at this year’s GPBF, including: Sours, Belgians, Porters, Stouts, Barrel-Aged, IPA, Ciders (that’s right!), Barleywine, Gruit, Rauchbier, Hefeweizen, and their first ever pumpkin Geuze and Zwicklebiers. Pumpkin won’t be the only flavor you’ll find at this year’s GPBF either, as there will be beers there using a wide variety of Fall/classic pumpkin pie spice and other ingredients, including: plums, coffee, habañeros, cranberries, chocolate, lavender, nettle, epazote and coconut. Mr. Pumpkin has some friends!

That’s quite a list! I’m really looking forward to enjoying some of my favorites (Pumking, Mr. Yuk Sour Pumpkin Ale, etc.), and also trying out as many of this year’s newcomers as I possibly can. This is one of my favorite festivals of the year and I hope to see you there. I’ll be attending the Friday session at this year’s GPBF. Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
