It’s the most wonderful time of the year for hopheads. The hop harvest is in, fresh hop beers are starting to appear everywhere, and the annual Hopfest at Brouwer’s Cafe is just over a week away. This year’s annual celebration of all things hoppy is set to kick off next Thursday, September 26th when Brouwer’s opens their doors at 11:00 AM. If hops are your thing, then this is the event for you. Being the hophead that I am, I attend this event every year and I’ve never been disappointed.
Here is a brief description of the event from Brouwer’s Cafe:
Our celebration of all things hoppy, of course it is mainly IPA’s of some variety, we are hoping that the hop harvest is early enough that we get some fresh hop beers for the festival. Expect the food menu to reflect items that hop as well as it has in past years.
That last bit means you can expect to see menu items such as: Rabbit Pot Pie, Kangaroo Steak, Frog’s Legs, and more – all things that hop! They’re all quite delicious too, so bring your appetite as well as your thirst for hoppy beers. You won’t be disappointed.
The tap list for this year’s Hopfest has not yet been announced, but check back here as I will post up the list as soon as Brouwer’s makes it available. I would expect to see a line for this event, but it will be nothing like the line Brouwer’s just had for Cantillon Zwanze Day 2013 (the line for that event started at 5:30 AM!). After kicking off on Thursday, Hopfest will continue through Sunday the 29th. Don’t delay, however, as the most popular beers always kick first. I’ll see you there.
Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
