Mr. Pfriem Goes To Washington

This week, Pfriem Family Brewers is set to make a big splash in Washington.  Hailing from Hood River, Oregon, Pfriem is a Belgian-inspired brewery that opened its doors in July of 2012.  Head brewer and Washington native, Josh Pfriem, was a brewer at the award-winning Chuckanut Brewery when they first opened back in 2008 and, since opening, Pfriem Family beers have been receiving accolades for their delicious, Belgian-inspired Ales.  Until now, Pfriem beers have been confined to Oregon alone, but they will be making their first several appearances in Washington State this week.

Starting tomorrow, March 12th, there will be a Pfriem Family Brewers event every night until the 18th: four in Seattle, two in Bellingham and one in Tacoma.  With this many events lined up, you have no excuse to not come and give Pfriem a try.

Up first, and a fitting place for a brewery specializing in Belgian-inspired beers to make their debut if I may say so, will be a stop at Brouwer’s Cafe tomorrow, March 12th at 6 PM.  7 different Pfriem beers will be featured – all new Washington releases with food pairings from Brouwer’s.  The lineup for this event includes:

  • Belgian Strong Blonde
  • Belgian Strong Dark
  • Blonde IPA
  • Belgian IPA
  • Super Saison
  • Belgian Stout
  • Mosaic Pale

Brouwer’s beer and food pairing events are always astonishing, so I’m quite sad to say I’ll have to miss this event due to a scheduling conflict.  If you can make it, however, this is a wonderful way to welcome Pfriem Family Brewers to Washington and the Seattle craft beer scene.

The next night, Wednesday the 13th at 6 PM, Pfriem will be making a stop up at Naked City Brewery and Taphouse.  5 different Pfriem beers will be featured, including 3 new Washington releases with food pairings from Naked City.  The Pfriem beers set to be featured at this event include:

  • CDA
  • IPA
  • Saison
  • Blonde IPA
  • Belgian Strong Dark

Naked City is one of Seattle’s premier craft beer spots.  Head brewer, Don Webb, truly loves his work and it shows in the consistent quality of beers coming out of Naked City’s brewery.  They also have excellent food, making this a great choice for Pfriem’s second stop on their Washington welcome tour.

Next up, on Thursday, March 14th at 6 PM is a stop at one of Seattle’s newest and already one of its most respected craft beer destinations: The Pine Box.  5 different Pfriem beers will again be featured, including 3 new Washington releases with food pairings from The Pine Box.  The Pfriem beers set to be featured at this event include:

  • Little Saison
  • Black Saison
  • Wit
  • IPA
  • Belgian Strong Blonde

Since arriving on the scene just last year, The Pine Box has become known as one of Seattle’s best craft beer bars.  You’ll always find something great on tap and their ever-evolving menu will keep you coming back again and again.  They are getting ready to celebrate their first anniversary just one week after this event on Thursday, March 21st.

The last Seattle stop on Pfriem’s whirlwind tour of Washington brings them to Beveridge Place Pub in West Seattle.  A gem of the West Seattle craft beer scene, Beveridge Place Pub is always holding new and exciting craft beer events, and this is no exception.  6 different Pfriem Family Brewers beers will be featured at this event, with cheese pairings provided by Beveridge Place.  The lineup for this event includes:

  • Wit
  • Saison
  • IPA
  • CDA
  • Belgian Strong Dark
  • Super Saison

That’s 4 amazing events in just 4 days, and Pfriem isn’t done yet!  If you can’t make it to any of the events above, you’ll still have a few more chances.  Pfriem will also be at:

Bellingham, WA:

March 17th – ACME Farm & Kitchen: Cheese, Meat(s), Pfriem dinner.
