Leavenworth Oktoberfest Kicks Off Tomorrow

One of my favorite Oktoberfest celebrations in Washington state, Leavenworth Oktoberfest, kicks off tomorrow, 10/5, and will go for three consecutive weekends (Friday/Saturday):

  • October 5-6
  • October 12-13
  • October 19-20, 2012.

This three-weekend festival, billed as “the next best thing to being in Munich!” will have four different venues this year, with loads of free entertainment, great food and great German beer.  Also, following the German tradition, where the Mayor of Munich taps the first keg to kick things off, the Mayor of Leavenworth will hold a keg tapping ceremony at 1:00PM each Saturday during the festival.  Don’t miss it!  Be sure to take some time to also check out the City of Leavenworth itself.  It’s a bit of Bavaria, right here in Washington with a real German feel and some great, authentic German restaurants.  If you’ve never been to Leavenworth, I highly recommend checking it out.

Tickets for Leavenworth Oktoberfest went on sale back on September 1st.  Prices are $10 for Friday sessions and $20 for Saturday sessions.  Kids under 12 are free (some areas are off limits to kids).  If you’re planning to go with a large group, be advised that Leavenworth Oktoberfest offers ticket discounts for groups of 20 or more.  Click HERE for the Group Sales Form.  All group sales tickets must be purchased in Advance.  For further information and details, please check the official Leavenworth Oktoberfest website

Also, due to the recent wildfires across Washington, Leavenworth Oktoberfest has this message up on their website:

As most of you have seen or heard, Wenatchee and the surrounding areas are currently faced with Wild Fires & smoke has settled in the valley.  This has not affected the progress and planning of this years Oktoberfest!  If at anytime this changes, we will let you know here or on our facebook page.

Right now it looks like everthing is go; and with the weather cooling off a bit we can be hopeful that the fire season is pretty much over for the year.  So, don your best German attire and get ready for three weekends of fun!

Drink responsibly and stay safe out there.
